I am looking around for places to stay and am wondering if it is best to stay South of Kralendijk to avoid driving though town? Might get tiresome over a week of back and forth trips...thoughts?

Also, any experience with the BelAir aparments?

Thanks,
J

Jason.. Everyone has their own preferences, but I'll say we've been going to Bonaire for over 20 years and have stayed all over.
Personally, I vote for the south, especially if cruise ships are in port (which seems to be more & more nowadays).
Bel Air is a private oceanfront condo complex (about 10 of them) right next to Bel Mar. Looks like it was constructed at about the same time as Belmar. No beach, no pool but does offer oceanfront views.

We stay at the Belair and love it there. Very easy to cross the island from there. We are windsurfers and and go to Lac every day. There are actually 12 units, six on each floor all with ocean views. All decorated by individual owners. There is access to the water but no pool. Will be there in about6 days.

Jason, welcome to Bonaire Talk:-) You don't say what price range you want, or what you want in regard to ammeneties.

We stayed South in January (and we too have stayed North and South several times), and found going North on days, even when there were 2 cruise ships in town not to be a problem going North. More foot traffic, and we didn't go directly down Kaya Grande, took the side roads to go North.

Go to www.infobonaire.com and check out some of the places, and post specific ones and you will get lots of feedback, rarely, will you get a negative review:-)

O.k.
Have done some looking on the web and have narrowed at the Lighthouse B R, Bel-Air Condo, and Bellafonte (all with cooking facilities) Here is another catch...we are flying in Saturday March 15 and leaving Sunday 23...so we need a short stay in addition to a weekly rental at the end or beginning! Suggestions?

Check with who ever you decide on, most places will add on an extra day or two if needed. You might not see the price for nightly rate on the web site but you can get a fair idea by taking a weekly rate and dividing by 7.

Jason, we spent a week at Belefonte Penthouse in January, it was fantastic. Robbert and his staff are fantastic. Have never stayed at BelAir or LBR. Have stayed at Belmar, Sand$, Black Durgon over the years. All are great, but Belefonte is our new "home" away from home.

The dive gear set up is right near the dock, big, comfortable with shower and rinse tank right there. Here are pictures of the dock.
