Do we need to bring a combination lock for locking gear in lockers at Buddy's? Divi had lockers on the dock, and I wondered if Buddy's did or are you expected to leave your stuff in the storage room open? Thank you.

Hi Deborah, Buddys dosen't have lockers. They have a room community room near the water where divers can leave their gear but I always hang our wet gear on our balcony. I've never had any problems doing this.

Things never dry out completly if left in the gear room. Plus they lock it at a certian hour. If you decide to go on a evening dive(not planed)you may not be able to get to your equipment. Best to take it back to your room, just don't leave it out over night! It might be gone in the morning! Ron

Hi Debroah,

Bob is right, at least he was. The community gear room down at the dock works great for me, especially since I usually get in 2 or 3 night dives. When you are done shore diving for the day, rinse and drop your gear down at the dock gear room, and hang your wetsuit over your balcony.

I was last down in late October, and understand Buddys was planning on making a few select lockers for gear out at the drive thru. They weren't going to advertise it, but if you call or email them about it, they may have it up and running.

BTW, I'm a Mountaineer too! Grew up in Peterstown, about 50 miles south of Beckley.

has Buddy's changed the secret key policy of being able to get your gear 24 hours a day? When we were there in December, you could still use the secret key to get in to do a 2 a.m. dive?? Ron! are they trying to slow me down at my favorite dive shop? tell me it isn't so!

Thanks for the info. I sure did like those lockers at Divi--right there on the dock. I sure know where Peterstown is--beautiful country!

Ed,
Key is still in secret hidey place :-) You can dive anytime you want as long as there are full tanks!

We leave most things in our mesh dive bag hanging on the hooks at Buddy's. Knock on wood; nothing ever stolen in 12 stays there. We do carry regs and computers back with us to the room though.

Ed, it's been a while, 6 years, that we stayed at Buddy's. Kobi answered your question, thanks Kobi! We stay at BOA, but dive with Buddy's. No need for the key as we have a private locker room at BOA with 24/7 acsess... Ron
