I will be in Bonaire Feb 23rd thru March 1, staying @ the Divi Flamingo. I am a newly certified diver and will be traveling alone. Can anyone tell me what to expect regarding the Divi Flamingo accomodiations, and diving if you are alone. Is it easy to find someone to dive with for the shore dives etc.

I stayed at the Divi Flamingo in July. I thought it was a great place to stay. I am a snorkeler not a diver but I enjoyed snorkeling right from the Divi, and saw a lot of marine life. The Divi is also within easy walking distance of many restaurants. We walked to dinner just about every night. Have a great time

Divi's rooms are spare and a bit worn. You might call it a 2 1/2 star property based on the rooms alone.

Construction is still going on in front.

Was there in early December, construction going on road out front, which was sort of nice, kept the midnight drag racing down to a minimum of noise! <g>

2/9/08, construction still going on. We were there yesterday being shown the timeshare studios and told that the kitchen is going to be remodeled, but it all seemed nice. Hearing a lot of chatter here thought that most think it is run down.

Sharon, You are going to an Island. The Divi, like all the resorts, are lived in year round. They are a place to eat, sleep, and store your valuables. 4 star people should go to H/Village! I have stayed at the Divi, and enjoyed my stay. I don't compaire Bonaire to home like alot of the stuffed shirts do that bad mouth the local lodging! I see from your profile, you are a diver. Come to Bonaire, Stay at the Divi, and have the time of your life!!! Ron

Thank you, Freddie. I was only commenting on what I was told by the RCI timeshare management. Thanks, and I love Bonaire, any way it comes. I'd live in a shack for a view and a dive beach! smile.

Andrew- sorry for the late response... My husband and I always stay at the Divi. We love the dive operation and you will have no problem finding a buddy, at the very least, the dive master will dive with you. It is the perfect location, too. Ask for a gate key so you can leave and enter through the back gate which faces town. If you're like us, you will enjoy your walk into town for dinner. There are so many options and may are within a short walk from the hotel. One thing the we always do that many are not aware: We exchange our breakfast vouchers for lunch. We are coffee and maybe fruit eaters for breakfast before we dive, and don't appreciate a huge breakfast buffet. But we LOVE lunch.... which is a lovely break between your AM and PM dives.
