Hi. I'm a newly certified diver travelling to bonaire in late June, early July. I'm trying to figure out -- and would appreciate any and all opinions -- on the right accomodations for me. Usually I tend to try to stay off the beaten track but since I'm solo I don't want to end up in seclusion. So, I'm looking for the right mix of quiet, comraderie, some fun at night, good beach and potential to find daily dive buddies. Also, recommendations on whether I need a car, etc. I guess at some of the places it might not be necessary -- so higher lodging costs may cancel out car rental costs....etc.

As Annie sez...there are so many ...if not all places on Bonaire that can have both seclusion and interaction. I hate going on vacation at a "vacation spot" I think thats one of the best traits of Bonaire...you feel comfortable.

Because Bonaire is already Off the Beaten Track, any place would be quiet enough: Divi, Lions Dive, Captn Don's (the only ones I've hung out at). But there are enough divers around to hook up with. Also, I've done solo dives around the Divi's Calabas when my wife had had enough. Once you've dove the sites several times, its like strolling through your backyard.

We just returned from Capt. Don's and visited with several "solo" divers. There was always someone to buddy up with on the boats. I witnessed many divers pairing up for shore dives. You shouldn't have any problems finding a buddy. Capt. Don's was great and right next door to Lion's Dive and Buddy Dive. We found Capt. Don's to be quiet even through a "resort". Bonaire is nothing like the crowded party resorts and we love it !!!!
