We're a couple going to Bonaire for 2 weeks in Feruary mostly to windsurf but will dive some days and snorkel. We'd like to stay at a place with a kitchen and that's clean and quiet, ideally with a beach nearby and where we might meet other windsurfers and divers. We'll be out on or under the water most days so don't want to pay for full resort amenities but not averse to activities like getting a beach volleyball game going. I'm guessing we need to be south of K. to shorten the drive to windsurfing. Suggestions across the price range?

Happy Holiday Homes is my choice. Check out their web page under accommodations.

I can warmly recommend Bonaire Fun Apartments (www.bonairefun.com). Had a very pleasant stay there.

Welcome to BT Mark. My suggestion would be Eden Beach it has all that you asked except it North of town. Nice small resort with a nice beach and very reasonable with a full kitchen. I would not worry about the distance to Lac Bay, it is a small island and you should be able to get there from Eden Beach in 15 minutes or so. We have stayed there three times now and have always enjoyed the location. Price wise for two and one week with airfare, rental car and diving costs around $2,600.

Mark, welcome to Bonaire Talk! In addition to the above suggestions, there are a few places that might fit with your request. Coco Palm Gardens is not on the water, but windsurfers and divers do stay there. They are about a block from Bachelor's beach. I know there are more, but my minds gone blank!

Mark,

Maybe Annie can help you with choices. She lives on Bonaire and in the past has put together a(few?) windsurfing competitions on Bonaire. Do a search for Ann Phelan or contact her through www.bonairecaribbean.com

Mark,

My wife and I stay a sorobon beach resort. It is right beside the windsurf place (Jibe City). It is very, very quite and laid back. The houses are a step from the small beach and snorkeling in Lac Bay is great. Just a short wade out to the reef, very shallow water but a lot to see. The resort can arrange a rental car if you want to take a day trip around the island. The resort itself is clothing optional, but it is always the most relaxing vacation we ever take and the people there are wonderful, as are most people on the island. Enjoy your stay on the island, it is a small piece of paradise.
