We are planning a trip for August. We are interested in any opinions about hhh and carib inn. How far is hhh from a beach? Does carib inn have a good beach and is there any coral or sealife in the shallows? Thanks for help.

Beaches are few and far between on Bonaire. There is some beach at carib inn, you can exit via the beach if you don't like the ladder. At Carib Inn, you have a dock to dive from and a fair amount of fish life to see, frogfishes, seahorse, etc. At HHH you are far from the water, it is a hike, frankly, and when we stayed there we only went to find the water once, basically we went over to lighthouse Beach resort and got in the water there.
So if you want a dock and water access and close night diving, go to Carib. If you want quiet and bright lights at night, go to HHH.

I will add that since we dive a lot the one tank in/out at carib did not work for us and we obtained our air elsewhere, I don't want to have to go back to pickup tanks after every dive.

I'll be in Boanire this year and it will be my 7th trip there. The past 5 I've stayed at HHH. It quite, peacefull, and inexpensive. I like the idea of being away from the touurist spots. I always rent a truck for shore didving so the fact that HHH is not near the water doesn't concern me. Bonaire is not that big, so your never really too far from the ocean. I have delt with Bruce at Carribbe Inn. He's a really nice guy and honest with his pricing and repairs. My personnel preffernce, HHH.

When we first started going to Bonaire (10 years ago) we tried to book into Carib Inn but found they had a 2 year waiting list, then we found HHH. We've been a regular there for many years now and truly love the place. Plus Louise, Kitty and Mel are wonderful people. HHH is always clean inside and out, it's quite and because it's off from the water a little ways the mosquitos are not as bad (this is a big plus for me because they consider me free lunch!) If you're going to rent a car anyway...HHH definitely has my vote!

I just got back from a five week stay at Lions Dive. While there, we checked out several other lodging choices. You might look at Dive Paradise. The price is certainly right, and it is not far to the dive sites. It is not on the water, however. It is clean and remodeled, and located just across the street from the webcams. Another spot we found interesting is Lagoen Hills. It is located 7 minutes from town, but the bungalows were great and Toucan Diving has a drive-thru tank station there. We always stop by to see Bruce at Carib Inn, but have never stayed or dove with him because of his one tank policy. There are times we load up 3 tanks a piece and head north and don't get back until late afternoon. Having to run back to town for tanks is not very handy.
