We (2 persons) are coming in the beginning of march to Bonaire for 9 days to spend our holidays and we are looking for a cheap apartment, hotel or studio at Bonaire (around 40$/day). Coco palm gardens las palmitas had an apartment for 36$/day, but it was already reserved. We would really appreciate some good advice that could help us to find a place to stay. We really don´t seek any luxory, because we are not gonna spend much time in the apartment due to the remarkable nature that exists in Bonaire. Thanks!

Kim - Have you looked at infobonaire website? Under accommodations they have ones listed in various price ranges including under $75 per day which have a lot of options. You may want to try there if you haven't looked at it yet.

Hi, Kim:

Coco Palms is a good bet and I know it pretty well. The $36/day price for the one studio is tough to beat but that particular unit has no kitchen. At the $40 per day price it's not easy to find something. There are others on the island that offer similar accommodations to Coco Palms but I don't think you can get a studio anywhere else for that price. But that particular one is very basic.

Do you plan to cook your own meals or eat out at restaurants? Are you divers or wind surfers or do you plan on doing something else entirely?

If you are planning to dive, need a vehicle, etc., a package from Coco Palms or another apartment or studio rental might be the way to go. If you are paying for the truck and diving directly, you'll probably get a better overall price than you would arranging on your own. Or maybe you want a truck and no diving? You can always ask, I'm sure people will try to accommodate.

Just a thought.

Bonaire Town Homes has a one bedroom unit at $60/day, with a full kitchen, so no extra costs for eating out unless you want to. Their website links through the "budget" section on InfoBonaire, or directly at: www.bonairetownhomes.com

I spend 5-6 weeks there every year, and don't know of a better value for a really nice place --- plus the owners (Benny & Ester) are wonderful!
Good luck with your search...you'll love Bonaire whereever you stay.

We are gonna begin our "B-C-island" trip by spending ten days at Curacao and then fly from the C island to the B. We have planed just to snorkel, because we don´t have the PADI diving license. But you never know if we will get inspired to carry out the PADI diving course at Curacao, then we would definitely continue to dive at Bonaire. In that case we would need a car. We planed anyway to rent a car for a few days and due to our limited trip budget (we are both students), we probably have to settle for a bike for the rest of the holiday. Thank you Josie, Lee Johnson and Mara Mara for the posted answers.

Kim, for car rental, check out Everts --- tell the owner, Ilka, that Josie sent you!!! She's a lovely local lady and her cars are as reasonable as you can get on Bonaire, and good.

BTW, some young friends of mine didn't get a car for their week in Bonaire a couple of years ago, and had good luck hitching rides to snorkel spots...Bonaire is safe enough to do that, I believe.
