Hi, can anyone please tell me what the snorkeling is like from Captain Dons. I am coming over to Bonaire for 5 nights, am staying in the Divi for most of my trip as read they have the best shore snorkeling, but they didn't have availability for the first night. Can anyone please let me know where would be a good option to stay. Also anyone stayed at Port Bonaire as I could get an apartment there for the full 5 nights but not sure about the snorkeling.
Thank you

Hi Sally & welcome to BT!! Port Bonaire does not have any great snorkeling right in front (IMHO). However it's part of Plaza, so you can walk to the beach in front of Plaza through the property in about 5 mins.
All the facilities at Plaza are available to you if you stay at Port Bonaire. The dive site off Plaza is called 18 palms which has good snorkeling from 2 different areas.
Port Bonaire is a nice place, has a small pool, however it's directly across from the airport so some people might consider this a negative.

I love the snorkeling off the dock at Capt. Don's. Just to the north are very swallow corals and rocks with lots of critters.

Hi Vince,

Are you sure PB and Plaza are still connected?

Hi Ann.. No I'm not. we stayed there approx 5 years ago & at the time they were definitely conected to the Plaza. Just went to their website & now I see no mention of a connection with them. So, the info I stated may be out of date.
Sally..See the present URL for Port Bonaire..

Thanks everyone for your comments, still haven't made a decision yet but think I will go for the Divi Flamingo option for most of my stay as the night snorkeling trips straight from the hotel sound fantastic! Any other tips or things to do while I'm there? Cant Wait!!
