Does anyone know of a rental house that has a sandy beach. I have seen several with ledges and rocky coral beaches but have not seen any for sure that have had a finer sandy beach - barefoot sand.

We will have an 18 month old and would to have a place he can play in the sand.

Try Aruba.

Sorry being a wise a**, not sure you are going to have any luck with this on Bonaire. This question has come up before and the only real answer is Sorobon on the east side. Nice resort but it's clothing optional. The 18 month old would probably take it in stride.

The Divi does have a small sand beach but no rental houses. Also next to the Divi is another small beach, there may be rental houses in that area. Good luck.

Russ, have you tried perusing through the rental websites, beachfront property? I recall seeing a few that had small sandy areas in front of the property.

russ, I've been to this house. there is a small "beach" it does have some coral rubble on it if I remember correctly. I think Julia Graves stayed there recently, maybe she will see this and have more specific info on how big the "beach" is. It is a great place.

Also - while looking at Sunrentals look at Villa Oasis. That has a large sandy patch/beach. If I could find the picture somewhere in my "files" the two teenagers with us buried themselves completely in sand one evening. So there are sandy beaches just not much of them.

Oops - just opened the links from Grasshopper - the first link for sunrentals is the house that I was talking about. GREAT house - GREAT cook - GREAT butler - loved it!

Pelican reef house has a tiny but beautiful beach and I think the house would suit a toddler very well. I am always very happy to help so e-mail me direct if you want more info. We would be going back there in October had it been free.

Russ, I too, visited Pelican Reef as a guest of Julia and Bob. The house and grounds are private and beautiful, the diving out the back door is fantastic and the quiche.... oops, never mind, that came from Last Bite Bakery:-). I think this property would be a nice place for a family with a small child to enjoy their vacation at.

Tom, thanks, buddy! That is good information for someone to have. Someone who might want to start planning a FAMILY vacation... :-)

Hi
We stayed at Pelican Reef in Nov 2005 and thought it was perfect - we don't have children but I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't be good for them too.
We loved diving first thing in the morning - off up to see the sand eels at Something Special was really ..... well, something special I guess. Would have returned in April 2007 but it is booked out until 1st May.
We have decided to stay at Cas Thomas instead but we are now worried about reports of noisy building work next door. Although we love to dive, we also love to chill out on the verandah much of the afternoon. We would appreciate any thoughts, advice on the situation there.
In summary : Very excited about returning to our favourite diving spot in the world but slight concerned we have picked the wrong digs!
Thank all and good luck to Russ - hope you've found/found a good place
Joanna
