Hubby and I are thinking of heading back to Bonaire for a couple weeks in November (we went for our first time in June and we are in love!), but since we are staying for so long we need something very affordable. I saw the WannaDive Huts in another post and visited their website and they certainly look fun and affordable but I was wondering if anyone had more detailed information, reviews, etc. Where on the island are they located? I know they are not waterfront, but how removed from the main drag/water and such are they? Thanks guys!

The Wannadive Huts are located just north of town and, if memory serves, they are 2 blocks off the "main" road. The huts are a great place if you are looking for an affordable stay. I know there are several hotel type rooms and one two bedroom apartment with a kitchen area.

I saw in your earlier post that you were looking for somewhere with a pool. If a pool is important I would suggest looking at Golden Reef Inn as well. All the rooms have a kitchen area so this can help cut costs as well. Bob and Bart who own/run Wannadive also have a shop at Golden Reef Inn. The Inn is located just north of the traffic circle on the main road and is two blocks from the water.

Remember, the only way you can cure PBD is to continue to go back to Bonaire :-)

Christin, to see where the Hut is located visit:http://www.bonaireislandinfo.com/town_maps_enlarged.html look for the number 17 in a black circle, directly above that is Kaya Dialma. WannaDive Hut is located on Kaya Dialma between Kaya Irene and Kaya A. Neuman. I have stayed there and would not hesitate to return, when looking for a clean and very affordable place. I may be prejudiced though, as I have considered the owners to be more than friends for over eight years.

There are many nice places listed at: http://www.infobonaire.com/hotelbudget.html

Best of luck.

We stayed at WDH a couple of years ago, just after they opened. They still had a lot of work to do but even then it was fine for us. It's not fancy but clean and safe and you can't ask for better host than Bart and Bob. I have also stayed at Golden Reef Inn. Again, nothing fancy but clean, safe and super host. I would have not second thoughts about returning to either......well unless you call sitting staring at the computer trying to figure out how to budget another trip second thoughts. :-)

I know, I'm sitting here doing the same thing! It's not the accomodations that are expensive, it's the airfare! And since I have more control over the accomodation expense unfortunately that's where I'm taking the biggest monetary hit! Too bad there arent clean safe cheap flights with great hosts...

I'm with you on that Christin. It's always the airfare that kills us and especially now that we don't live in a metropolitan area anymore.

Hey, I come from Los Angeles...so airfare is really expensive! Do what I do..get a frequent flyer credit card for whatever airline that flys into Bon (I have American) and charge everything you can on it on a daily basis and pay the whole card off every month. In a matter of less than a year, I have my free ticket to Bon!

You're going to buy all these things anyway and pay with your other cards, so why not do it this way? A friend taught me this one awhile ago and now I never fret about my flight to Bonaire anymore!
