It has been a few years since I have been to The Plaza Resort's beach area. From what I remember the water was shallow right in front of the beach and there was a sandy bottom.

Is that correct??

Does one need boots to wade in the shallow water??

Is there much to see snorkeling in the shallows??

We are planning a large group with a number of people who are not divers and there will be younger children.

Is the area in front of the beach suitable for snorkeling or for kids to wade into??

Thanks

Russ hate to be the bearer of bad news, twice, but it's the same deal as Eden Beach. Although much flatter and wider. It still turns to algae covered coral right at the waters edge (at least it was two years ago, if by chance it has changed). I did a face plant there in full scuba gear as I've done at Eden Beach. I've fallen down at all the good places. You will still need water shoes and little ones will need to be watched.

Sitting here thinking about a safe beach for little ones, the only thing I come up with is Lac Bay. This is on the other side of the island. It is just a short drive and back to the left is where all the locals swim. Close to where the wind surf cam is.

Russ,
There is a public beach that the locals use just north of the Divi called Plya Cha Cha Cha. the shore is sand with a sand bottom to the reef. Safe for the young'ins. We stay at the Dive Inn right across the street and dive with there shop aswell. The Moonshadow is Dive Inn's boat and it moores on top the reef in the area and uses the public peir for pick up. The Divi also has the same type of beach just smaller... Ron
