My husband & I are planning our 2nd trip to bonaire next month (can't wait!!!!) We already booked a studio at the Sand$. I've seen the standard pic on their site, read great things in general about Sand$ & seen postings of 2 bedrm units already, but haven't read much on the boards about studios...

We stayed in a Sand Dollar studio and loved it. It was far roomier than most 1-bedroom units elsewhere and we made good use of the full kitchen facilities. It was at the far north end on the ground floor--right next to the Buddy Dive/Lion's cactus fence. We aren't even thinking of staying anywhere else on our next visit.

Thanks Ron, awesome to hear we chose the right place!!! Being from Illinois, you're probably familiar with our last dive site, our last dive was in the cold, murky (but lovely) quarry in Kankakee...vis=15'-25'...reason #533 why we can't wait to get back to Bonaire:-) thanks again!

Hey Vick...be nice to Haigh Quarry some of us have to call it our home dive site. Will be there the end of the month and looking forward to renewing my acquaintance with the albino catfish.

I did say cold murky but LOVELY in my 1st post. Definitely wouldn't knock Haigh quarry, they are a super friendly bunch with a well run operation & recommend it to anyone who can't make it all the way to Bonaire :-)

A 25' viz at Haigh is something. I did my checkout dives there in August '01 and viz was around 10'. If it hadn't been for the woman in our group with the pink neon tank, I'd still be searching for a way out. I saw the paddlefish and get nibbled on by vicious bluegills and crappies. The temp didn't bother me but I think struggling into a 7mm wetsuit should be made into an Olympic event.
