Someone mentioned the "eyesore near King's Beach". Is this the Esmeralda Beach subdivision? I saw these foundations on another site and they looked intriguing, but the realtor said one cannot get a mortgage on a house there. Why? Too prone to flooding? What is wrong with that area? Anyone been there? Thanks .

They are even lower than the street ! Very close to the water line ! Imagine a (small) wind reversal ... you can use the garage as swimmingpool........

Deborah - I think the eyesore that they are talking about is also the never completed two or three story building. I don't think anything has been done on it since I starting going to Bonaire in 98.

mara, i agree, i think that's what they were referring to. while there has been some work done in the area of esmerelda, it is still an eyesore. too bad they can't just tear it down and start over.

Foundations , houses ... and you can't get a mortgage for, that is left of Esmeralda. And as far as I know, not the same owner ...and Esmeralda certainly is an eye sore ... was an Venezualean owner (an architect living on Bonaire who died quite some years ago - it was a rather nice design), than American owners (who did absolutely nothing the years they owned it, and I am not sure who owns it now ...

And supposedly there is a new owner of the "hotel" that also wants the first few lots of the other development for the "ghost hotel" property. Whatever it is I with it would be. It looks like it should be gorgeous but alas there it sits. And so close to such great diving too.

My husband and I were sort of interested in one of the foundation/lots but of course it never crossed our minds that these were pretty much at or under sea level. So much for that idea. Guess we'll stick to the idea of living on a sailing yacht and visiting Bonaire by water.
