All of the resorts have dive shops and instructors. The 16 y/o can become adult certified open water diver. The nine y/o is not old enough yet to take dive classes, the youngest that I have seen for any of the teaching associations is 10. Bonaire does not have many sand beaches, most of them are coral rubble. Although there are a few that bring in sand and make beaches for the resort, some are Plaza, Divi Flamingo, Eden Beach, Buddy Dive and Capt'n Don's. All of these have 2 bedroom condo's with full kitchens, swimming pools and most of them kids programs. Check out www.infobonaire.com and click on Accommodations for more info on the different resorts. I am sure others who have children will chime in with more information. Andy

Janet, welcome to Bonaire Talk After you take a look at the link that Andy provided, then post the places you have narrowed it down to. Another important question is, do you want to be on the water. That will narrow the search down a tad more. There are places on the water that vary in price range as well. Do you need a restaurant on site? Do you want a kitchen?

I have been going to Bonaire now for 6 years. I suggest you stay at DIVI DIVI Resort. The staff there is outstanding. Friendly dive shop people. They are willing to help you like you are family.

Just returned from Buddy Dive and had a wonderful time. Buddy's was really great. Heard from other people on the trip that had stayed at other resorts and all of them loved Buddy's as did we.

I have just returned from a trip for my sixth year in Bonaire. I had a chance to see other resorts there this time. I still think that Divi Flamingo has them all beat. Very close to town. Just my opinion though. You may take it or leave it.

Stay at the Black Durgon Inn. It is a samll property(10) rooms all immaculately kept. Best of all the property is located right on the water(well as close as you can get to the water) at the top dive site on the island, the "Small Wall." There is a great pier at the Inn streching out about 50', that allows for great Scuba, Snorkelling, Swimming or sunning your self. The rooms are very reasonable, and a free breakfast under a large covered patio only 15' from waters edge is included. It's wonderful to sit sipping your coffee and watching all the dive boats head out to do their thing, knowing that when your are ready you can enjoy the water at your leizure. The owners are very friendly and helpful. I've stayed there many times and can highly reccommend it. Enjoy your next stay on Bonaire.
