We bought a resort pkg from Back to the Caribbean when we were in Grand Caymen 2 yrs ago and we are electing to go to Bonaire as our destination. We are coming out July 15. Our resort is Hamlet Bonaire. Any comments on this resort? And is the location good? Thanks for any input. Can't wait to get there! Hi from San Antonio Tx, Becci and Todd Wells

Oh! I forgot to ask, can you snorkel/dive the beaches of the other resorts? In Cozumel, they let you use their beach access if you buy couple of drinks, but do they do that here? Also, anyone have a source for a good town/shoreline map which would show the resorts/restaurants as they are located. One more: how about credit cards/US dollars; travelors checks versus converting to gilders? Thanks

Rebecca, welcome. I have not stayed at Hamlet Village but did tour the resort a few weeks back. It's very nice and the rooms are nicely laid out and furnished. The common areas are quite pretty and pool looked inviting. The only minor nit is the ocean is a little walk down a hill. You will like that place.

You are under a misconception that the shoreline is all resorts. On Bonaire most of the shoreline is natural outside the center of the island. Where there are resorts you can almost always use the facilities without charge. A couple of exceptions, the Plaza and Eden Beach will charge to rent a chair and Capt Dons will charge if you want a locker or shower. The car rental place will give you a good map. Navigation is pretty easy on Bonaire and it's tough to get lost.

Don't worry about the money. Bring dollars and you will typically get guilders in change. Credit cards are accepted most everywhere. Do make sure to tell you credit card companies where you are going. There has been a few cases where the credit card company sees overseas charges and cuts the card off.

We stayed at the Hamlet a few years back and didn't see the hill Cecil mentioned. Hamlet Oasis is located next to Capt Dons and walking from one property to the other is natural. Our cottage was near to Don's and a distance from the pool. The water/reef is directly in the front of the property easily reached from one end of the property or between the oceanfront Villa s. I believe for a slight fee you can use Dons facilities as well. Other than an office we didn't experience any other facilities but Don's next door is a complete resort. The cottage we stayed in was good in every way and may even be classed as very good by Bonaire standards. We did have one issue with the double glass doors that we had a hard time locking. I am sure you will enjoy your visit

We stayed there two years ago and thought the place to be quite nice. They are pretty new. A fresh water pool is a plus after a day of diving. As you face the water, go to the right of all the villas in front of you. There is a parking area with steps leading to the water. This is the dive site called "The Cliff" Go about three villa to your left for the entry; you will see a sand channel with a coral body to your right. Going left will take you to a nice wall dive that goes past Captain Don's and ends at the Buddy Dive dock, and it is an easy walk back to Hamlet Bonaire.

We just got back from Bonaire & we stayed at Hamlet - it was lovely & the apartments were really great - the quality of the kitchenware was excellent, the decks were a good size too & quite private from the people next door.

It's a little way out of town so we hired a scooter but it was quiet & tranquil & we would definitely go back if we return to Bonaire.

Thank Sue. Renting a scooter sounds good too. Wonder if we could get our BC and stuff on the back of one so we could SCOOT around to the dive sites???? Will look into this versus auto. Cheers, Becci
