Hi, I won a free trip to Bonaire with a choice of staying at the Resident Windsock Apt, Seaside Vac Club, Hamlet, Yacht Club or Lagoon Hill. I also have my choice of going to Grand Cayman instead. Would like some info if anyone knows anything about these places or if I should go to Grand Cayman. Thanks.....

Carol - I doubt if anyone here would tell you to go to Cayman over Bon...I'm sure which ever place you choose to stay, it will be a special time you will never forget!

Thank you for your quick replies............I think we'll go to Bonaire as we have been to Grand Cayman .....only for a few hours during a cruise.

Ahaaaaa!

Well, I could give you advice on this though decision, but than I would have to be subjective to this case ;)

But they are all nice locations ! (some of them a little better than the other) :-)

Good luck!

also, carol did say that she had the choice of staying at one of those five places. remember, this is a free trip so choices are somewhat limited.

Hi Carol,

I stayed at Lagoen Hill last month & I was very pleased with the accomodations. I have not stayed at any of the other places you mentioned, so I can't offer a comparative viewpoint.

We stayed in a studio at Lagoen Hill & it was bigger than I expected. The kitchen was fully equipped, with a full-size fridge. The room was very clean & housekeeping came 3 times per week & completely serviced the room. The TV had satellite cable, with HBO & Showtime even. (We didn't miss "the Sopranos" & were very happy about that!) There was a couch & coffee table, two twin beds pushed together, and a large patio with a dining table & chairs. The yard was big, with a clothesline in the back.

Lagoen Hill is about a 7 minute drive from downtown. The downside is that you can't walk, but it's good because you see lots of nature. We even had a herd of cows show up! They have a locker with tanks on the premises & a wash basin for dive gear.

My only complaint about the place is that the water pressure was pretty weak. (Try washing conditioner out of long & thick hair with just a trickle - feels like hours!) Although, I have stayed at a couple of different places on the island & it was never all that good anywhere. At least there was hot water, which is not the case at some other places.

Hopefully others can tell you about the accomodations at your other choices.

How did you win the trip?

Carol, welcome to Bonaire Talk:-) All of the places are good. Some are on the water, some are not. Maybe if you look at the link that Jerry provided and find the places you have a choice of, and then narrow it down to a couple (on the water, not on the water, need a pool, don't need a pool, close to the water if not on the water) etc., it will be better for folks to give you more feedback. You can also do a keyword search at the bottom of this page and search for each location and read the trip reports.

Have a great trip!

I live north of Boston MA.
Two years ago I was in FL on route to Bonaire, took part in a survey, won a weekend trip to, you got it, Boston.

Carol, you are so lucky, Bonaire is like being as far away as you can get from your routine.

Enjoy!

Ann, I was wondering that, too. It sounds like jewelry made out of light weight gun parts and shells. :-)

I'm not familiar with the Divi Timeshares, but that seems a bit high to me. A quick look at the Divi website shows that the rates for the most expensive room they list are considerably less ($1120) for the dates in Sept and Oct I looked at. I'm curious - what's the difference?
