We are scheduled to be in Bonaire September 30 until October 7, which I now understand is the week before Regatta week.

The island is busy during regatta, but it is not that noticeable unelss you are planning activites in town or near the regatta headquarters. Most restaurants will be bit busier but it is not mobs of people. A traffic jam on Bonaire is when ten cars are lined up at one of the few stop signs...I hate those 3 minute waits!!!

I know the week AFTER is much quieter than Regatta week. Our first trip to Bonaire (without realizing it) was REgatta week and the week after. We were in shock to see how "active" and crowded it was our first week and then suddenly, it was "heaven on earth" and we realized what Bonaire is truly like. We love the peace, quiet and scerenity of Bonaire...we now go in May/June.

Hi Barbara, No cons on Belmar, we just decided to try another place. There are so many lovely resorts, condos and villas on Bonaire that we will probably change every couple of trips. We met one of the owners in Houston last year at Seaspace (a dive industry show, similar to boat shows) and really liked him and I have been talking to his wife on BT for over 2 years. They are such nice people that we are going with them this year. If you stay at Belmar you will love it. Keep in touch and maybe we can get together for a dive or a drink on island. We are young oldsters, I am 60 and Dave is 49 but we love to dive and love Bonaire.
