I really liked my first trip to Bonaire, but I advise that you avoid Coco Palm Gardens.

When I inquired I was told by the owner that I could only have fresh towels after 5 days ( yuck ), so I don't think I missed anything. If I did the owner should have told me that information at that point. I would gladly have paid for extra service.

Coco Palms are"self catering" apartments, not a hotel and as such you are responsible for your own housekeeping etc. They are for folks like me who are willing to forgo the "hotel" service for budget accommodations, in order to stay on Bonaire longer. Having stayed there many times I find them clean and comfortable, with lovely patio space for each apt. A great place to kick back after a day in the water. And I find Brigitte and Marion to be most accommodating hosts.

I agree with Sharyn. I stayed there some years ago, and it was also "self-catering" then. We understood that it was more of an apartment rental than a hotel. You are responsible for your own housekeeping, laundry, etc. I liked the fact that it was like living on Bonaire rather than staying in a resort. We did have a lovely patio with a hammock and enjoyed spending evenings there.

I have to say that we have been to Bonaire twice and both times have stayed at Coco Palm Gardens. Our first trip was in 2005. We really love this place and look forward to going back. We have been to many places around the world and consider CocoPalm a find. When we first booked there, all of the information that we had about the establishment was from their website. We arrived clearly knowing that these were self maintained rental apartments and found the rooms and grounds better than stated on their website. We are from the USA and enjoy staying in places with less pretention as it feels more like home. The rooms are very clean on arrival and as clean as you keep them. As for cockroaches, I have been suprised that I havent seen any while staying there being that Bonaire is in the tropics. It is kind of expected. We will be back ASAP.

I have stayed with coco palm several times in several units. It was a wonderful experience every time. I only wish that I could go more often! I agree with Patrick that the accomodations are even better than the pictures show on their website at

We've stayed at Coco Palm Gardens for quite a few years now and love the place. The apartments have a very relaxing atmosphere. The owners keep the apartments well maintained and always have taken care of any problems immediately. I have never seen any cock roaches, but again you are in the tropics. I like the feeling of this place being a second home and not just a place to stay. We have been very comfortable here. Some folks like the resorts.....my husband and I enjoy the privacy of this location. The hosts, Marion and Brigette, are truly the best.
