We are going to Sorobon July 25th thru Aug 2nd. Was wondering if anyone has been there lately. We were there 2 years ago and just loved it. I have read they now have A/C. How is internet access these days from the resort. Unfortunately we have to keep in touch with the family while vacationing. Also how is the snorkeling there?
Thanks,
Tom

We were there last month and absolutely love the place. Outstanding atmosphere and staff. There is A/C in the bedroom, but as it is right over the bed we didn't use is much, as it got too chili during the night. The sea breeze worked better for us. The WLAN works most of the time from the porch near the office. On some days we could even pick up the signal right from our own room. The snorkeling is super from the far float and out to the reef. Take care of the current though. It is surprisingly strong at times, and you don't want to get hauled across the reef at low tide ......

Norm is absolutely correct- things are still wonderful at the 'Bon- they have a new chef and the food is better than before. They have wireless now if you feel like hauling your laptop but there is really no where to lock them up except a cabinet in your bedroom- the safe is not big enough (however- we feel that the security at Sorobon is wonderful- and its really hard for a outside thief to sneak in- everyone knows who works there and otherwise you are nude you know!!- just don't leave things out in the open)- they still have their computer room set up. We did the laptop thing and it really does only work well right outside the office- there several of us would be- typing away in unity!!
They have re-done the beach and added another dock over on the other side of the bay. Still just heavenly. We were in 10 this past time- I think that we are going to move around- we have also stayed in 27- loved them both. It was so windy this past time that our diving stuff was always a little wet with the salt spray that was coming from the reef (that far away- the wind was that intense.) We always meet the nicest people at Sorobon- have a wonderful time.

Tom, We met you 2 years ago when you were there at Sorobon. Bill and I are going back from October 10-25 this year and looking forward to it. What chalet are you staying in this year? Hope you have a wonderful time and remember to post a trip report when you get back.

We are staying in unit no. 26. Last time we stayed in unit 30 right on the water. Oh was that a perfect spot but unfortunately it is taken this time. I hope 26 is OK. I think 27, 16, 13, and 2 are still available. Which is the best spot? We do like being close to the water.

Thanks for your responses. We are counting the days.
Tom

Echoing all of the above...our last trip to Sorobon was in October, and we had a lovely time, met wonderful people and felt totally relaxed...hope you enjoy it! The nude cruise is a wonderful ice-breaker!

We liked 27- they had a pretty clear path and fairly unobstructed view of the water. But we loved 10- you are right there in the middle....- I can't wait to go back.....

Keith
Unfortunately we do not arrive until Tuesday afternoon. We were considering the nude cruise and I can see it would be a good ice-breaker. Do they have any other scheduled nude cruises other than Monday? How is the snorkeling on the nude cruise? Any concerns with other folks at Klein Bonaire who are on other cruises?
Tom

Tom,
I've just got back from Sorobon, and they're currently offering a Nude Sunset Cruise (without snorkelling) on the Woodwind on Tuesdays, with the minibus leaving Sorobon at about 1630. They need a group of 4 people minimum otherwise it doesn't go ahead. As far as snorkelling goes on the Monday cruise, I was on the Monday afternoon Woodwind cruise this week and it was great! We went to Andrea 1 and saw lots of things. With Dee being very pregnant, the guided snorkelling is now led by a girl called Anouk who was charming, knowledgeable and good fun. There were no problems with other boats where we were. Ulf said to tell everyone if we enjoyed it (OK, Ulf, I've told them). I guess you've seen the Woodwind website at http://www.woodwindbonaire.com/ .

Regarding internet access at the Sorobon, the guest computer is in an airconditioned room close to Reception. I used it every day and it was fast and reliable (and nicely cool, especially to drop in there mid-afternoon). The computer's hooked up to its own printer too.

The aircon in the rooms works well - I resorted to it after losing patience with the mosquitoes. The only problem with it is that the remote control is impenetrably complicated!

Peter
