I know we would be happy at Sun Oceanfront (which I previously inquired about). But I decided to cut the budget a bit. So my shortlist is Yacht Club Apts or Happy Holiday Homes. Both seem to have good reviews, rates for a 1 bedroom unit are similar, and are a good value.

The only two perks I know of for Yacht Club Apts is you can walk to restaurants and they have more flexible deposit requirements.

As far as I can tell, both are about a 5 minute walk to the beach, have good management, and are clean and acceptable.

Is there anything to recommend one over the other? Is the proximity to town a huge perk?

Thanks for any feedback.

I stayed at Yacht Club in Sept and had a wonderfull time, they are a very small (only 13 units I think) resort without all the frills. I went to dive and nothing but and had a great time here, we spent many a night at the pool relaxing with a few Amstels. I have never been to Sun Oceanfront. As for YC you can walk to pasa bon pizza but the others are a nice hike. I recommend a rental truck they are dirt cheap and allow you to see the whole island. any other questions feel free to email me.

HHH is not really within walking distance of town unless you do a lot of walking all the time. It is probably 3-4 miles from town. It is in the Belnam area on the southern end near BelMar and Great Escape. You really will need a truck or car to get the most out of Bonaire. HHH is a nice property and has very nice management. Great Escape has a restaurant and it is within walking distance. The closest grocery stores are a couple of miles away. HHH is south of the airport and most everything else including town is north of airport. Long winded but hope this will help. Andy

Hmm, definitely suggest a truck for at least part of your time. No pool at HHH, and a long walk to get to the water, you will be inland. In fact, I'm not sure there is any access to the water from HHH except thru Lighthouse beach resort or a truck. Unless you like to walk a very long way in scuba gear.
I think from YC you can get to Bongos, Pasa Bon, and Bistro De Paris.
I suggest you go to infobonaire.com and check out all the lower priced accommodations

There's no pool at HHH, but Louise and I have arrangements so that HHH guests get use of my pool.

Thanks for the feedback. We will rent a vehicle for the whole time. I think the Yacht Club Apts sound fine, but wanted to consider HHH because so many have posted positive reviews.

Can't go wrong with HHH. Have stayed there twice and plan another trip this year. HHH is close to a lot of really super dive sites on the South side of the island including the double reef system, Hilma Hooker, and some awesome unmarked dive sites further South, e.g. Fish Hut, Hidden Beach. A lot of good snorkeling sites are on the South side also.

I have stayed at both YC and HHH and I would choose HHH. I liked YC but I personally liked HHH better. Either way you will be in Bonaire - lucky YOU>>>
