We just found this board. I wish I would have seen this before we booked. Has any one got input on HHH. We have booked them for two weeks. First week in Belnam and second week ocean front. Anyone have pictures of the place or opinions.

Well, their web site is http://www.happyholidayhomes.com/. In the photos page - the last 3 photos are of the ocean front house. The others are of the bungalows.

We also have a couple pictures on our site http://www.jonz.net/Bonaire/index.html.

We have stayed there the last 8 years and will be there again in April. They are nice large units with a full kitchen, cable TV, a small patio and room to hang dive gear. We obviously think it is great. The only complaint I've ever read is that after the first roll or 2 of tiolet paper, you have to provide your own. But, since we eat-in for many of our meals - we are already shopping and picking up TP is not a problem.

The ocean front house is just across the street and down a bit from the other bungalows. Kitty showed it to us last year when we asked about it. It seemed nice and I'm sure also has everything you'll need.

I am sitting in our room at HHH as I write, we have stayed at HHH for many years and love it. We have been here almost two weeks and have a week and a half left. I can say from experience that HHH is a great choice.

Do you have a map of the bungalows> We have no idea which one of them we'll have for our first week, but we are so excited. Thanks Bea and Marvin for your pictures. James you're there now as we speak. How awesome is it. Which bungalow are you in? Thanks for your input.

It really isn't a big enough complex for a map. I think there are about 12-13 bungalows. Most are on the same side of the road as the office. There are a couple (probably 4) across the road. I assume by the watching the number of cars at these units that they are 2 or 3 bedrooms, but I'm not sure. This road is just a lane, almost the only people on it are the people staying at HHH.

I'm not sure the bungalows are numbered. We just email Louise and tell her we are coming back and could we have our 'usual' bungalow. Once I think I heard Louise referring to the bungalows by color, but it seems like they get painted every couple of years, so I'm not sure that will work.

It is a very nice place to stay and Louise/Kitty/Mel will do what they can to help if you need anything. Have fun. We'll be there in 6 weeks, but who is counting ;)!

You can't go wrong Marge. Have stayed with Louise, Mel and Kitty on a few occasions and everything is terrific. Have a great time.

You should enjoy your stay there. We get of lot of Happy Holiday Home people in the restaurant and bar and they generally seem happy. HHH guests have free access to my pool and can borrow DVD players whenever they rent a DVD from my shop.

What sort of household things do we need to bring from home. I've heard toilet paper is one thing. What about coffee pot/coffee?

Marge. It's been a few years but I recall the units as being very well equipped with even the TP. The kitchens were quite workable and I think we had a coffee pot as well if I'm not mistaken.

You should only have to bring your personal toiletries. Kitchens are fully furnished with everything you will need. The only thing we did not like was that HHH is not on the water otherwise we loved it. Each of the bungalows are fully furnished and spacious. You will need a truck or car as you are not within walking distance of town. The only resturant that is close enough to walk to is The Great Escape. Hope this has helped answer your concerns.

I would call the kitchens sorta furnished rather than fully furnished, if you are a cook you will have to be clever. Bring a sponge, a small bottle of dish soap, salt and pepper, and any spices you might want but don't want to have to buy. Ziplocks are nice for storing foodstuffs, you can't leave anything out. You will get a roll or two of TP, but that's it. We also bring a decent knife and some of those plastic sheet cutting boards, the real thin ones. They are great for the house especially as the counters are tiled. There is no teapot if you want tea. We could never figure out how to use the clothes washer at the house.

We cook simply when on vacation (actually, all the time) - stir-fry or salads, so what is in the kitchen is fine for our needs. There is a coffee pot, microwave (It talks and says "Enjoy your meal" when done) and toaster.

We buy the TP, paper towels, coffee and dish soap when we get there, but we are there for 2 weeks and eat in quite a bit. Sometimes you have to replace the filters for the coffee pot - it just depends. We do bring a good knife, salt, pepper, bouillon cubes, pine nuts, Crystal lite and spices. You can find almost everything there (maybe not pine nuts), but it is just easier to bring them. Also, we always carry 8-10 ziplocks and usually use them all. And, also as seb mentioned - we bring a new sponge scrubber and viva towel for doing dishes and then just leave them.

We also bring a couple hangers to hang shirts on the clothesline. The hangers in the unit are motel style with the metal brackets. We don't carry a lot of clothes, so we need to wash while down there. I think we tried the washer once, but now just do the washing in the sink. There usually are plenty of clothespins.

My husband and I have stayed at HHH a couple of times and would certainly do so again! I have not stayed at the oceanfront place, but we definitely considered it (we are trying Belmar this year because of all the rave reviews). Louise is very helpful and they keep the place tidy. You really cannot beat the price if you are a low-maintenance traveler. There are safes (about the size of a small shoebox)for your smaller valuables, and as, at any place, you'll want to lock your gear and valuables up in the house (we always draw the curtains) when you leave. No need to be alarmed--just practical advice! Oh, and if you are buying most of your food at the grocery store, don't forget to pack a few plastic bags because Cultimara doesn't have grocery bags or they charge for them. I ended up using my gear bag :-)

Thanks everyone for your suggestions and ideas. Louise stated she can get us discounted diving prices. Can you tell me who she generally refers her clients to?

Last time we stayed at HHH, Louise got us the air tank deal with Photo Tours.

Hi Marge,

You are going to love HHH and Louise. Regarding the diving, Louise had discount diving through Photo Tours last year when I was there. If you are Nitrox certified I noticed on Photo Tours web site that they are currently offering a free upgrade to Nitrox.

I have used Photo Tours my last two trips to Bonaire and would highly recommend them.

Don't worry, you will love the place. The owners are great people.
