Have a group trip this summer and we have the option of staying at either side of the resort. I've heard that Lion's has A/C in the entire apartment where Buddy's only has it in the Bedrooms. But I also here that Buddy's is a lot more convinent for diving (i.e., closer to pier, dive shop, and parking lot).

Any suggestions on which side to stay on???? Also, and specific apartments to request?

Thanks in advance,
Michael

I've stayed at Buddy's about 8 times -- always on the old Buddy's side. Both sides are absolutely the same in terms of convenience for diving, etc. -- the dive shop, lockers, pier, etc are actually in between the two "sides" of the resort. I believe your statement about the AC is true, but on the Buddy's side you CAN leave the door to the bedroom open which (sort of) cools the whole apartment -- not exactly eco-friendly in terms of energy use, but it does (sort of) work. The feel of the two sides is kind of different: the Buddy's side is a bit more open with two pools and the Lion's Den side is a bit more intimate with one pool very close to the rooms. I would say a bit more private on the Buddy's side but on the Lion's side you can slip from your room in to the pool more conveniently. The rooms on the Lion's Den side seem to get a little less light and appear a bit darker in side, but it's a really subtle difference. I think it's a toss up and not really that big a deal.

And Michael, if you have any specific questions about Buddy's feel free to send me an email thru BT.

Michael,
I have stayed twice at the Lion's Dive side, once when it was Lion's Dive and once part of Buddy Dive. I am going in 3 weeks and we will stay again in the Lion's Dive side, BUT I think the whole place is great and you cannot go wrong with staying anywhere there. I think the Lion's Dive side is a little more private myself. We do not spend too many waking hours in the room so enjoy the resort and island.

I just returned and spent 14 days at a Lions Dive room and two at a Buddy Room. I agree with Scott, both are convenient. The AC is no big deal in either case. I'd try to get rooms as close to or with views of the water if possible. For me that's the major consideration since everything else is about equal. Have fun.

Michael, I have just returned home from a 7 day stay at Lion's. It was my fifth vacation there in 11 years. I agree with the above posts. You really can't wrong either way. I don't know if there's a price difference between the two. I've enjoyed greatly each of my visits and plan to return again to Lion's either late this year or in January of '07. You're gonna love it!

Oh yeah one more thing....Apartment 715 is ocean front upstairs on the side opposite Lion's Den restaurant. It's a beautiful one bedroom condo with perfect sunset portrait views. Ocean sounds 24/7.
