Hello,
Any review of the Kontiki resort. Is if far to drive from town? Any snorkeling around? Dive shops. Restaurant on property? Any ideas will be appreciated.
THanks

we've never stayed there but i'll tell you what i know. 1.) it's about a 15 minute drive to town. kon tiki is located on the east side of the island, near lac bay. 2.) lac bay has some good places to snorkel. 3.) there are no dive shops there...windsurfing yes, dive shops, no. 4.) there is a restaurant there. we've eaten there a few times and enjoyed it.

I have a comparable package from Eden Beach, do you think it is better. We also don't want too many people around. Just relax under the sun. :-)

eden beach has a beach (hence the name....LOL) kon tiki is not on the ocean but is a short distance from lac bay (maybe a 10-15 minute walk). i'm not sure how crowded eden beach gets but i'm sure other bt-ers can let you know.

Natalya...Eden doesn't get "crowded." The beach is fairly large, and of all the times I've been there (Regatta week for example) there has been plenty of room. The beach at Divi is smaller, but they also have the sunning dock.

Remember, if you stay on the Windward side (Sorobon, Lac Bay) there are no dive shops on that side of the island, as the activity over there is windsurfing:-)

I remember passing Kon Tiki several times, but have never been inside. I just did a keyword search for "kon tiki" (match parts of words) and came up with a lot of reviews, you might want to check them out.

We stopped at Kon Tiki and ate lunch just a couple of weeks ago. It is very, very quiet. The waitress told us they will have a dive shop in the future (next year?) but currently do not. They have a very nice little lagoon off of Lac Bay, with palapas and beach chairs for guests. The food at the restaurant was really good. But if the focus of your trip is diving, this place is far off the beaten track.

I stayed at Eden Beach in October and the accomodations are great. I didn't feel "crowded", but Bongo's will occasionally be quite busy :-) . The diveshop there (Wannadive) is very nice too... but I dove with their City Centre shop. I'd definitely stay there again!
