Our family is returning to the Sand Dollar this February. Loved the Resort. However, not knowing better we were placed in a two bedroom unit that had seen no upkeep since it was built. This year, we are requesting a different unit. Can anyone out there tell us the unit numbers that we should be requesting??? We require a two bedroom unit that has had some upkeep. No other restrictions other than the air conditioner be a bit quieter than the one we had. Please help.

Instead of Sand Dollar - you might try another place maybe ?? (We stayed at Sand Dollar last Nov)

If you are looking for a sure bet perhaps a different resort might be wise.

We have had good luck with 2 visits to Belmar and may well return there again.

Has anyone stayed at the Cocoa Palms Garden facilities. We are looking for a package deal for lodging, diving and vehicle. We are planning a trip for March/April 2006. Would love any suggestions.

I'm curious about the BelMar. The two bedroom on the first floor looks nice. Can anyone give us more information? Is there diving off BelMar's beach? We have two divers and two adult snorklers. The price appears to be about $220/day, is that average? It appears to be one mile from the airport and three miles from downtown, is that a good location?
Thanks.

We did a walk through of the Belmar in April and were so impressed that we booked it for September. As I understand it, you can dive from Belmar's dock as there are tanks placed there twice a day. Personally, I prefer the south end of the island for close access to the southern dive sites so I believe the Belmar is in an excellent location. Another big thing they convinced us of was that it is fairly secure with a night guard on duty during the hours of darkness. We thought the price was great as it included unlimited air and a rental truck for shorediving. It compares favorably to other packages we've purchased on our last 5 trips to Bonaire. If you've got a rental vehicle, getting from Belmar to downtown is no biggie. Good Luck.

We took tours of both Belmar and Bellefonte and both are impressive facilities for those with a little extra cash or for a special occasion, perhaps if you require a pool and diving right off the hotel site. I don't think you'd be disappointed with either.

Jay, we stayed at Belmar on our last trip, and it was fabulous. They do have a guard on the property all night, could not have felt safer. The dive shop is great, and they have dive lockers right there (we were in an upper unit, I understand the lower units have lockers outside the doors). The house reef is great. They have resident iguanas that hang out all day and let you get real close to take pictures! They have a tank station by the road for when you need to drop empty ones off, and pick up full ones. There is a rinse tank and shower on the diving dock (there are 2 docks, one for snorkelers and divers to get in and out on, and the other is a sunning dock with lounge chairs and palapa shades. And the view is fabulous! I'm staying there again for a few days in October:-)

Oh, and Mary's right about the Sand$, we've stayed there too and it's also a great place.

Jay, we have stayed at BelMar 2X's and will stay again (hopefully next year). We get one of the ground floor apts as they have 2 bedrooms. We have so much dive gear and photo gear that we use the 2nd bedroom for our equipment. The price is really not bad when you factor in a rental truck and unlimited shore diving. You can dive and snorkel off the docks and the reef there is quite nice. But even if it wasn't we would stay because of the staff: dive shop, housekeeping, grounds and night watchman, they are all great and helpful. Hope this helps you some.
Andy
