We will be making our first trip to Bonaire and will be staying at the Divi Flamingo. Any suggestions regarding meal and/or dive plans? Any other information is also greatly appreciated!

Some have said to save your breakfast voucher for lunch, but I personally LOVE the breakfast at Divi. They will make to order omlettes and pancakes, as well as bacon, sausage, etc. And great fresh fruit! I need this to start my day!

I also like the Divi's breakfast plan. I don't dive so I can't help you there. I wouldn't get a dinner plan because there are way too many nice restaurants in walking distance. The Chibi Chibi at the Divi is nice as well but I like the variety!

I agree .. breakfast plan is very good and gives a good start to the day. We frequently skip lunch or have a small snack. I would not do the dinner plan as there are many much better restaurants to try on island. Chibi Chibi is not bad, just nice to go to different places since you are so close to town. We do dinner at CHibi one or two nights just to relax close to 'home'.

Most people do not eat 3 meals a day but if you are going to dive multiple dives then you had better eat 3 or take the rist of low blood sugar underwater (run out of gas) or make your plan to eat a candy bar and drink alot of water before each dive. You don't want rubber legs at deapth.. Ron

Mark, I know you will love the small intimacy of the Divi Flamingo resort...don't forget to take some time out to just simply "float" in the waters at the Divi and snorkel the rocks at the tanning pier and both dive docks. Dive, too, as Calabas reef is wonderful. Divi is great for relaxing and enjoying the waters of the Sea and their pools.

If you are in the hotel part, make an early request for a refrig. It's nice to have cold water, soda, beer etc. in the heat!

You can get a photo brochure of the resort from the Divi office. Contact Tiffany Soares at tiffany.soares@diviresorts.com. She is very helpful and will mail you a full color brochure.

Brian, A dive skin will pay for it's self if you buy them at home. The sun is very intence so treat your ears and wear a hat (if thin hair) the skin will protect you from the sun and little critter bites. We bring all of our dive gear but bring as much as you can to keep the cost down. The water is 83-85d at deapth so if you plan on diving repetitive dives your body core will chill and a skin won't be enough. We dive with 3m polartic full suits and it does the job. If you don't have a dive computer then rent one. Get as much bottom time as you can. We think the Divi is a great operation and have stayed there a few times. Just north of the Divi on the boulevard there is a tall windmill that is where we stay (Dive-Inn Studio-Apartments) no pool, no resturant, but has a kitchenette, small livingroom and bathroom. Has a Diveshop with a boat and the price is right. http://www.diveinnbonaire.com/ The morning dives at the Divi are 2 tank in the moring and single tank the afternoon. The shore diving is great but a rental vehical is needed. Just have fun and let the good times roll!!! Ron

Actually I am going with my local dive shop and am planning to bring all my own gear from 3mil full suit to computer to lights. I think I am going to be bringing more dive gear than clothes!!! Most of the time I will either wear a doo-rag or a hat so the sun is not a factor on my head but am planning to bring plenty of suntan lotion. I am getting very excited about the trip.
