Due to the lack of space on a Sat flight, we booked an 9 day, 8 night trip to Bonaire 5/11-5/19. We are using an RCI timeshare exchnage and are staying at Lion's Sat-Sat. However, I do need to find a room for one night, Sat 5/18, that is near the airport b/c we leave Sun on AA at 6:45!! Departing so early we thought we should stay close to the Airport for that one night.

Any recommendations?

Also, re: Lion's - we dont land Sat night until 8:45. Will we have any trouble checking in that late at night?

Tami, you will not need to rent another room prior to departing. Lions is about 12 min. or less (at the wee hour of 5 AM) to the airport. And since you are arriving on one of the international flights, the airport and all hotels expect arrivals so no worries..just have fun.

Lion's Dive did not have 24 hr reception when we were there last year. However the keys for your room will be left at Captain Don's which is next door, (the next lot?!). All the taxi drivers know this and will drive you round to get the keys. It might be an idea to ask Peter the manager to e-mail you a room map as we find the numbering to be quite imaginative! It sounds a lot of bother but it isn't and Lions Dive is excellent.
Get in touch if you need more info.

Thank you both so much. Knowing that Lion's is so close, I will see if we can just get one extra night there. But with timeshares, it is so dependant on if someone else is using the room the following week. We have Lion's for 7 nights, and I only need one more night, so maybe it will work out. Gosh, I wonder how they figure out the rate for one night??? I'm not shelling out big $$ for Lion's for one night, especially if I can find another place to for us to use as a one-night crash pad.

I have stayed at Lions Dive for four summers, and the people there are so friendly that I'm sure they will help you! You have made a good choice by staying at Lions Dive and I'm sure you'll have a wonderfull time!

If you can't get a room at Lions dive for one nite, you should be able to get a room at Divi Flamingo for about $100. I have timeshares at Divi and often book flights for Fri/Monday to save $$ on airfare; then buy the extra nites at Divi...usually works that the savings in air pays for the room and you end up with extra days in Bonaire.

BTW..how did you manage to get a swap into LIons dive, I've been monitoring RCI for a year and never saw one come up
