I emailed Buddy's Resort and asked what was being done there regarding the guests safety at both Buddy's Resort & Lions Dive since they now own both resorts. I had a response from the Resort saying that they ask that all guests use the in room safes for their items and if the item is too large for the safe to ask the front desk for their help in securing the items. The also say that their units have doors that lock behind you when you leave the units and ask that you keep your doors closed and locked when in your unit. They did not address the windows or balconies. Email also stated that they have on the grounds security personnel to further protect their guests. Said if I had any further concerns regarding this matter to please let them know and they would be happy to answer my questions. They want all their guests to have a safe and enjoyable visit with them.

I feel better about our upcoming trip since they did take the time to respond to my concerns and let me know that they too are trying to keep me and my things safe while on their property.

Suzanne,
Just returned from a week's stay at Buddy's. My wife and I felt very safe at the resort. The main door to the room does lock unless you unlock it. It also had the standard hotel room inside security lock for night time. The balcony doors all had sliding bolt locks at the top and bottom of the doors. Standing on the balcony at night,(consuming an adult beverage or two), I saw a security guard walking a beat each night. There was also a guard at the entrance to the property on most nights.(not sure if its the same one or two on duty at once)
In short, be as cautious as you would be when staying anywhere, both in the US and abroad and you should have no problem.
