Hello - I'm brand new to this discussion board and have been consumed for the past several nights reading various posts on a variety of Bonairian subjects. I think I'm very nearly ready for the real thing....

I've been to Bonaire once before in the late 1970's and I'm now planning a week long trip in July with 10 family members ranging in age from 14 to 76.

I've narrowed the search down to 2 Villas - the Beaurang House in Kralendijk - and the Hamlet Villa 12 north of town. Any first hand experience or advise with either of these Villas would be greatly appreciated!

...just in case either Josie or Anja should read this message, both have been a delight to communicate with in considering different housing options. Thanks in advance! - Matthew

I've stayed in Villa 13 a couple times; they look to be about the same. The location is ideal for diving, with a great reef right off the back porch. Ours was perfect for a group of 10. All five bedrooms had baths, and the kitchen was huge. You'll have a great stay regardless of your choice.

Ron - thanks for the feedback! Couple more questions......is the water accessable from the Villa for an elderly person that uses a cane on occasion? We'll primarily be snorkling and from what I gather the Villa is very near some of the nicer "close-in" reefs. I'm also thinking that the proximity to some of the resorts may provide entertainment for our teens....
And finally, if we were to consider the place right in town (Kralendijk), any disadvantages you can forsee in terms of late night noise from traffic and bars and such?

You get to the water via a short set of stairs, about seven in all. It's easy for me with scuba gear on; I'm 58. The entry from the beach is pretty easy. There is a sandy channel that makes entry and exit easy. The dive site is called "The Cliff" The beach itself consists of broken coral, so the footing is rather uneven at best. I've not stayed downtown, but the music from local night spots seemed a little loud during exit from a Town Pier night dive. You may be looking at spots away from that. One plus about Hamlet is the size of the "back yard", it is about 40 x 80 feet, with stone pavers and great privacy
