Hi!
We haven't been to Bonaire for a couple of years and have the same question as many. Where to stay? We have stayed at Harbour Village in the past, but know they have undergone some changes. We like small dive resorts. Must have on site dive shop...my husband is a fanatic diver. I must have a beach. Prefer onsite restaurant and bar. We have gone to many small dive resorts in the Bahamas and Belize, lately and are spoiled by the individual service you get there. Any suggestions?
Nancy

Not sure if any of the small resorts have a beach. Plaza Resort, Divi Flamingo, and Eden Beach Resort all have small beaches. Most of these resorts have 60 and up rooms/suites. As you know there are not many beaches on Bonaire. Check infobonaire.com for the different resorts to find out the particulars of each. Good luck and enjoy Bonaire.

Hi, Nancy!! Sand $$ has a one cheek beach which is close and personal. *smile* The house reef is Bari Reef, rated by REEF as the number one reef in the Caribbean for species diversity. I've seen frogfish, a batfish, seahorses, spotted eagle rays, coronet fish, and many other species too numerous to mention. It's also great snorkeling.

Sand $$ has 63 condos available for rent. I own one of the 17 condos which are not rented, and also live on Bonaire full time. Tasmi is the Guest Relations Director for the SD condotel operation, and she does her best to insure individualized service. There is a really kewl Bonairean style restaurant and bar located right on the water where they serve breakfast, lunch & dinner. They haven't named it yet, so for the time being they are using a question mark (?) on their sign in place of a name. We all just call it "the platform".

They host a free rum punch party and an all-u-can-eat barbeque on the platform every Wednesday night with live entertainment from Moogie, lots of dancing, and fun!!! The new Den Laman will be opening in a week or so, and they will be offering an open bar, lunch & dinner. Mangos and the pool remodel are in the final stages of completion, and should be finished soon. From what I understand, they, too, will be offering a bar poolside, and an internet cafe. There are also tennis courts available to SD guests.

Bonaire Dive & Adventure is a short walk next door, and they offer everything a diver needs, including a convenient pier, gear locker, and free NITROX upgrades. For non-divers, BD&A offers mountain biking, kayaking, cave tours, and nature tours with the famous naturalist, Jerry Ligon. You may have read about Jerry in Rodale's Scuba Diving Magazine.

Check out www.divesanddollar.com for the particulars.

If you need more information about Bonaire, and all the fun activities available to non-divers, please don't hesitate to give me a call, regardless of where you end-up staying. I'm listed in the local phone book, or you can just come by SD, and ask for me at the front desk.

Nancy,
Sounds like Eden Beach Resort to me. Small, has a beach, great dive ops, restaurant/bar on site. Look at the cams and you will get a live look at it.
