Heya all,

maybe you've got some good advice for us:
We are traveling in a party of five with a baby.
Grandma and Grandpa are non-divers, who will babysit our tittle hero while we are making bubbles.

What is a good place to stay? We thought about apartments near Benem, but also about a resort like Sand Dollar. There is a huge price difference, but maybe it's worth it, considering Grandpa and Grandma? Are they better off in a resort (More people, more things to do, mote convenient?)

Thanx for any advice!

Have you thought about Divi, Michael?
It has a full range of rooms. The studios have two double beds and a pull out couch, small complete kitchen TV and telephone A/C. It has a small beach where Grandma & Grandpa can play with the little one while you are either cruzing the house reef(our favorite) or out on one of the boat dives. It has a great dive shop.On a 2 tank boat dive you are usually back by 11.The divemasters know where all the critters are!
It is also a very nice short walk into town along the shore road. There are 2 on-premise resturants and 2 pools there also. You can sway away in the gentel breeze in the swings or hammocks under the palm trees on the property too. We all have our favorites. Tuff decision.

Michael, I agree with Lorraine. I think the Divi would need all your needs; yours, the grandparents and the children.

I agree; the Divi! It has something for everyone. If you stay in a studio, the kitchen will help with the baby.

Michael
We've rented houses on each of our last two visits. The space and privace might make up for the organized activities of a resort setting. Just the two of us, but we're kinda "spread-it-out till we leave" types, so we loved the bigger place for roughly the same price as a small hotel room. I'd be glad to give further info on where we rented if you're interested.....just drop me an email.

Joe,we usually try to do both when we come to Bonaire. No.1 is because we own 2 weeks at Divi and No.2 After 2 weeks the time share does get a little crowded and I have a freind who rents me his wonderful villa and I feel very much at "home" there now.
I think for 1st timer's to Bonaire,Divi is an excellent place to start because of it's central location and proximity to town. From there, then they can then get a sense of the island and decide for the next time where to rent. (we all know that many of you will fall in love with the island and be back like us;).
I find that when we stay at the Divi we dive more because everything is so convient and the reef is right there. We dive from divi even when we stay at the villa. When we rent the house, it's always a decision of which way to go , either diving or up in the jacuzzie(Such a decision;) )(More privacey in the villa.)Still cann't decide which one I like best, so we slip our time.
