We are looking into going to Bonaire Feb. 26, 2005. We are not divers but would love to snorkel right from our accommodations. Would also rent a car so can we easily find beaches we can snorkel from?
We are also tennis players and would like courts on the premises or within walking distance, preferably lit for night play. Also, I have been reading some of the other threads and people are talking about mosquitos and no-see-ums being a problem. Will this be a problem in late Feb.?
Would prefer a studio with refrid/microwave on the ocean that would be reasonable.

So what are your suggestions?

Thank you,
Cindy

Cindy,

I think the perfect place for you would be Sand Dollar. They are directly on the water, you could snorkel from there, and they have tennis courts. There are also courts located in town behind MCB Bank, but I don't know the accessibility of those.

The Plaza Resort also has tennis courts and is on the water with a nice beach area. Check them out on Info Bonaire website or Plaza Resort Bonaire website. Plaza and Sand $ both have onsite dive facilities and restaurants. Plaza is south and Sand $ is north of Playa. Enjoy Bonaire Andy

I believe Harbour Village also has a pro tennis center. We just stayed at HV and it was lovely. We don't play tennis, but their brochure includes all kinds of info about their tennis center. Maybe check out their website at www.harbourvillage.com. There is not a reef off of their beach, but some of our best finds were on the seawall at the edge of their property, where we saw a sea turtle, octopi, massive moray eels, and lots of reef fish. You can also easily swim (or walk) down to the Bari reef at Sanddollar. The Plaza has very nice shallow snorkeling, but I thought their beach was crummy--very small, extremely crowded, and with an ugly cement wall on one end. Sanddollar is very nice, but the beach is small--fine for getting in and out of the water, but if you are envisioning sunning on the beach all day, be aware that you'll probably have to lie up on the lawn or on the pier. Sanddollar is right next to Harbour Village, so I imagine you could stay at Sanddollar and use the courts at Harbour Village, too.

Please note: If you are not staying at a resort with tennis courts (Plaza, Harbor Village & Sand Dollar), you will have to pay to use the courts of these resorts. All of them are lit for night playing.
