We are looking for a place to stay for two weeks sometime between the dates of Dec. 18th and Jan. 10th. Looking for something nice (romantic a plus) First time to Bonaire. We are aware of the fact that it's a bit late in the game because of the holiday etc. Any and all input would be good.....hotel, house, villa etc.
( budget is up to $200 day us dollars)
Thanks,
Kathy

Hi Kathy,

Welcome! What a lovely place to spend your holidays. Your first time?? Wow..this board will be invaluable and you will be so addicted ..LOL..

I just worked with 3 clients on Xmas bookings and there is NOT much left. I am not even sure about cars. You will get AMAZING suggestions here and hopefully some owners and agents can help. I will email you privately.

:-)

Annie

Try Divi, they may have condos for rent. They are right on the water, close to town and have a first rate dive shop on the premises. Also, they have 2 restaurants, workout facility, internet room, mini-mart, and a small casino. they have an 800 number to make it easy to check availability. 1-800-367-3484. Good luck, you will love Bonaire wherever you stay. By the way if you are flexible move during your 2-week stay. It will give you an opportunity to see other places for future visits.

check www.infobonaire.com they have info on the accommodations on Bonaire. Have several price ranges and everything from hotel rooms to condos. Most of the accommodations on Bonaire only have the bedrooms air-conditioned and some have no AC at all.

Divi is a great spot but believe they are booked solid for those dates

At $200/night, most every place is in the budget. Harbour Village would be too expensive but beyond that... As Andrea/Dave suggest, you can start by looking at the hotels on Infobonaire. I might also look at who Caradonna has deals with.

George's idea has some real merit -- by staying two places you can get a better flavor. Perhaps one north (Eden/Sand $/Dons/Buddys/Lions/etc.) and one south (Carib/Divi/Belmar/Plaza)? Over the years, I have visited many of the larger resorts and each has a slightly different feel. And it will make it much easier to get a room... As a side note, moving rooms is not that big a deal -- I always plan one to two hours (including packing and unpacking).

Aside: My favorite (Carib Inn http://www.caribinn.com/Last%20Minute.html ) has some openings but not for a contigous two weeks. Like the Seaside bungalow (bedroom, living area, kitchen, overlooking the water) from 1/1 to 1/8 at $130/night plus tax. I like them a lot but they are not for everyone (very small, very quiet, not fancy with no bar, no restaurant and no 24 hour desk but clean, friendly and in a great spot w/pool and house reef). I have also stayed at Happy Holiday and enjoyed them as well (but not on the water and no pool) -- they list a few waterfront properties but I have done more than drive by.

The Carib Inn is a great spot, small but intimate and that is its charm. Also, it is within easy walking distance of the Plaza, Divi, and Richards. Also, it is only about a 15 minute walk to town along a beautiful promenade.
