Early in the month there were comments about construction at Divi. Has the dive dock been rebuilt? If so, are there any pictures? Also, has the concrete work and jack hammer work outside the casino been completed?

We were at the Divi last week. I think the jack hammer work is done, but they doing a lot of construction on the casino. I don't know what the final outcome will be, but where the open bar area will now be enclosed. They are making the casino larger.

As for the North Pier, some construction has taken place. If you recall, there is a walkway along the dive shop to the pier. The walkway in front of the "boat dive sign up board" is intact. But if you were to go around the building corner to the pier (above the rocks) that area was ruined. And as the know the pier is gone. The walkway along above the rocks, connected to the building has been repaired. But the actual North pier construction has not started. It seems that Bonaire law allows for repair when connected to a building. But the pier itself will require permits from the Bonaire Government, and the Marine Park. (Reading between the lines, this might take some time.)

Earlier this year, Divi added a deck to the south side of the dive building. And there are a few lockers on the deck. We were able to use one of these lockers. There are also pegs near the South pier to store your equipment. If you been to Divi before you'll known what I'm talking about. Divi did put a gate on both sides of the south storage area which they lock at night.

For those that still want to dive the north pier area, recall that in the past there was a small sun deck just before the dive shop. (Not the big sun deck that has goes out about 100 feet with the large rocks around it.) Divi has put in better stairs on this short pier. I found entry/exit very easy here, and Divi keeps tanks on the new deck. Now that I think of it the new deck is connected to the short sun pier on one side, and the dive shop on the other side.

While the South Pier had some damage, Divi has added stairs which allow for easy water entry/exit. The South pier used to have an "L" shape, --it lost it's L, now it goes straight out, and the steps point to the "setting sun". Divi did a nice job on the repairing the South Pier, you won't have any problems. The boats dock on the sided of the pier.

I would say that shore diving from Divi's North or South pier is still very easy. Boat sign ups are still done at the dive shop. For the most part, diving is the same as in the past, only you need to go the to South pier to board the boat.

Bill: Is the Time share dock there and is it all together That is the little pier next to where they put the little bar or sitting area?
Also where are people having breakfast now Is the Calabas up and running?

The time share dock (little dock) is still there, and in very good condition. Divi has improved the stares going into the water, and they leave tanks in the area. While you can not do a 'giant stride' it is still easy shore diving.

As for breakfast and the Calabas, everthing is normal.

In general, other than the missing North dive pier and shack that sat on the pier, you'd never know Ivan was there.

This is good news, DArlene!! Yay!

Are the new stairs/steps at the timeshare dock actual steps or is it another ladder? Can't wait to get back there in May....I would imagine everything will be completed by then. Carole

Carol, If I remember correctly they put stairs there but I only used that pier to hop on the dingy for the Woodwind. I always used the southern pier to get in the water because I would use the internet first and I was right there. As far as the noise level at the Divi, if you were on the hotel side you wouldn't hear a thing. I never even noticed noise when I was in the area of the casino. But I suppose if you were in the time share you would hear stuff.
