Fred, based on the location, I'd say it should be very quiet at night, unless the bar is rowdy, which I would doubt. Do a search on "Eden Beach" for people's comments.

One thing I did notice on Bonaire (as I am VERY sensitve to night noise) is dogs barking. (There are a LOT of dogs on the island). Putting the air conditioning on in the bedroom generally solves that (although I generally find air conditioning is still too noisy for me, and now I have a "white noise" gadget that plays a babbling brook, which I use and love!)

A "white noise" gadget that plays a babbling brook? Tell me more, Josie. I too am bothered at night by noise, and light as well, and have found air conditioning 'too' loud to sleep with, though I have done when so hot to do so would be untenable. Dogs barking? Oh my goodness! Never thought of that. I imagined Bonaire to be quiet and peaceful not full of barking dogs. LOL Why are there so many dogs then?

Jenni, it is quiet and peaceful, but there are a lot of dogs on the island. They don't bother my husband, but I am super-sensitive.

Here's the info on my gadget:

I bought it online from HoMedics, and it cost about (I think) $27. It has six "sound" options(night, rain, wind, ocean, falls, brook), plus radio, alarm. You can set it to play for 15-30-45-60 minutes, or continuously, either sound or radio. It takes batteries or plugs into an outlet. The model # is SS-400B

I live in a house with NO noise (except birds in the morning and my cats), so travel can be a challenge. This solves it.

I had no doggie noise anywhere until Lighthouse. There were about 5 dogs all around my condo. Also a LOUD Parrot that spoke Papiamento next door... For a day we thought some crazy lady was yelling at us as we couldn't see next door do to vegetation. After a few days I got used to the dogs as they slept most of the night. The real noise prob. I had was during Regatta in Oct. at Plaza. We had an oceanfront room and you could hear the bass of the music pumping until 3 AM. It took 2 nights to get used to that one..

I use white noise all year long and am a LIGHT sleeper so take that into account when you read my reports..LOL..

I cannot say enough about ALL of my fabulous accommodations: Lighthouse: restful and convenient with LOVELY pool and beach, Plaza for it's amazing beach and lovely resort feel, Divi for everything..location, dining, and water views and Habitat for all of the above and cats and pizza..

Dogs (as you might imagine) are quite vociferous in our neighborhood :-)

Oh, and Fred, as far as Eden Beach, it's probably pretty quiet most times, unless there's a special event at Bongo's Beach Bar (the on-site bar), which happens every so often. Check with the hotel for a schedule of Bongo's events.

How far is Eden Beach from town then?

Thanks for the info Josie. I'll do a search for them on the web, and see if they have anything in the UK.
