bad news for any visitors to divi beginning Mond Oct 4...construction activity will continue in force on renovations to the casino...I suggest contacting Divi management for alternate accomodations...activity begins 8;00 and continues to about 4:30...use of pool and dock is virtually impossible without ear muffs

apparently management of the casino is different than management of the resort...the constructions plans at the casino were not coordinated with the resort so the resort was equally surprised/shocked with the noise and are struggling to deal with the helpless guests...the resort management is doing everything possible to accomodate their guests; however, the construction will continue...

Thanks, Gregg. News to all of us, I guess. Off-shore management for the casino? LOL! I gather it is the timeshare side (the ones who laid out the big bucks for the contracts) who are being disrupted. What a shame.

Are all of the trees near the pool/casino/water walkway now gone??

Hang in there, fella. Appreciate the reports. Any photos of the "work" you want to post for us? Ayo. Carole

Hi, I am a new Bonaire Talker. I just registered because I just found this wonderful site. We are coming to Bonaire on Oct. 5. Of course we are staying at the Divi. When you talk about construction starting Oct. 4 - really bad huh!! Which management should I get in touch with? The people in NC or the management at the Divi Flamingo? We have always wanted to come to this island and my daughters will be getting their open water certification. I do not want the noise of jackhammers to ruin a trip we have saved for for so long.

Welcome to BT, Bonnie! Here are some email addresses and a phone number for the Bonaire operation for you. I think contacts to both operations would be the best way to do it...North Carolina and Bonaire.

If you are staying on the hotel side of the complex you should be just fine. The construction is over by the timeshare side...that's where the casino is. Are you in the studio apartments or the hotel side?

Let me see if I can find the information on my PC for you....

Here is what I have for an email address/name for the Divi/Bonaire front office:

FO@divibonaire.com Selimah Agostien (Office Mgr., I believe)

Here is the phone number I have for Bonaire:
011 599 717 8285 (this is the entire number including the international access number......just dial it as it appears)

The email address on Bonaire for Frits Hannenburg (the General Manager) is GM@divibonaire.com

I don't have the North Carolina numbers handy but you can probably find them at their webstite:

http://diviresorts.com/divi_internet.asp

Have a great time while on Bonaire and be certain to rent a vehicle and explore the entire island...she has so much to offer topside, too! Good luck and let us know how you make out with Divi. Ayo. Carole

Bonnie,

depends on where you are staying in the Divi...the timeshare rooms (studios) are the only ones affected....the training will occur on the opposite end of the complex since the dive shop dock is gone (IVAN)

I saw Bonnie and the girls there. I was sitting in a hammock chair on the deck while the girls were getting ready for their afternoon dive/class. By the way, some divers are using the timeshare tanning dock for shore diving. Tanks are set up on the new deck. It's easier than going down to the South dock. Sue

Hi Sue, we are now home and the temp is 57 degrees and rainy - very hard to get use to after the week in Bonaire. I read that you saw us at the divi You should have yelled at us. That would have been great. We enjoyed to dive staff at the divi but were not impressed with the hotel staff. We had so much fun exploring the island and meeting people. We hope to get the chance to go back in a year or two and we want to stay in a neat little villa somewhere. AHHA dreams...

Hi, Bonnie and Sue! How is the work coming along at the Divi now? Casino construction on-going? Any progress on the dive dock? Glad to hear everyone had a nice time on Bonaire. Sorry to hear the hotel staff was not that great, tho. Maybe you should drop a note to Frits Hannenberg to let him know? Ayo. Carole

I am very surprised to hear that there was a feeling of less than extremely pleased with the staff. From Fritz and his lovely wife Jennie,on down to the cleaning people we have found the entire staff smiling and very accomdating It is really a shock to read this Were they new staff? I certainly would try to find out what is the story ??
Never had a problem in the 16 years we have been going there. In fact that is the main reason we like it there is the feeling of belonging and the family atmosphere that prevails certainly hope this was some type of miscommunications
