Hi guys,

I've got a free stop on my flight back home from South America and I'm planning using it for Bonaire.

I need your help before I can make my decision ....I've read a few articles about Bonaire and it seems like its a "couples place", is that what it is? I'm travelling alone so it could get pretty boring if thats the case.

If you think I should go there: what about accommodation? Eden? Bellafonte? Sun Oceanfront Apartments?

By the way: great forum!! For once a very helpful one...

Thanks everyone

Magnus

Welcome to the board Magnus.
I guess it depends on what you consider a "couples" place. If you are looking for hot nightlife, then yea I guess it is. Not a lot of club activity. If you want to dive and need a buddy, that's usually not a big problem as there is usually someone else looking for a buddy as well.

I'd say you'll find as many couples as singles or groups of people hanging out together. I too think it's not exactly a couple's place - but indeed not a lot of clubbing. That's the beauty of it though! With that friendly and relaxed atmosphere it's very easy to meet and get talking to people though.
By the way - returning from South America with a free stop over in Bonaire was how we got there the first time - and we are just about to return for our fourth trip!

Thanks for your answers and I will surely visit Bonaire, it seems like a great place for what I wanna do: relaxing and diving.

But what about accommodation? Any suggestions? I've been in contact with Bellafonte and Sun Oceanfront Apartments and they looks nice. What do you think about Divi Flamingo and Eden?

Take care

/Magnus

Magnus, you won't be disappointed with Bonaire.
If you are renting a car, then any place on the ocean is good but if you are walking, then the Bellafonte is a bit of a walk from downtown, especially is the beating sun. The Divi and Eden are both nice and are 5 min from town (on either ends of town) and both have a house reef.
We stay at the Dive Inn which is next door to the Divi but a smaller operation that the bigger places. After diving the best place on earth, you'll want to check out the fabulous restaurants. Have fun and no Bonaire is not just for couples.
