We just returned from a wonderful stay at BelMar and I know there are some of you concerned about the condition of their docks. When we arrived on Friday the 17th, the docks were in pretty bad shape. Both docks had lost the majority of their decking and the "cross over" dock was totally gone. But workmen went to work on Tuesday and by Friday they had the right hand dock (the one used for dive entry) up and running!! They tore away what was left of the decking on the left hand dock to repair the one on the right. When that dock will be ready, I don't know, but a least you can now dive at BelMar.

Also, we heard that Toucan is leaving BelMar and Buddy Dive is taking over the dive operation there. I spoke to Erika and she said that she was going to stay at that dive shop because she liked BelMar so much. As for Monique, I don't know. She also didn't say when this is to take place.

Thanks for the update Richard. I know all will be good when I get there - supposedly they will be re-inforcing the dock so that boats can come by there for diving. And we did in fact hear/confirm that Buddy Dive will be taking over the dive shop.

Thanks for the info Richard. Mara, do you know when will Buddy Dive be taking over? Will they be picking up at the dock at BelMar? We've placed our twins in the program at the Plaza and were hoping they would still be providing the tanks at the Belmar for our Thanksgiving visit.

I'm not certain when that will occur. I think it will be within the next month or so. And I doubt they will be picking up until they sturdy the dock but if they do that would be GREAT! When I find out more I'll let you know. Let me see if I can put my hubby on to the task of getting details.

Claudia, I just spoke with my travel agent who booked our trip to BelMar and he said Buddy Dive is taking over the dive operation October 1st. Unfortunately, the dock won't be ready for boat pick-ups real soon, so if you're going to do any boat dives you're going to have to drive all the way over to Buddy's to get the boat. Bummer!!
