We will be arriving on Sept 18 and staying until Sept 25. Is there anyone else staying there during that time, or advice for packing to stay there?

Thanks, Tom and Julie

Divi is my favorite. It is a beautiful short walk into town and the snorkeling out front is incredible expecially around the cement pier!!

Also, I had emailed some questions to Captain Don's, they said Housekeeping would put a mosquito net up for us. Having never dealt with mosquito netting before, I assume that keeps them away as you sleep, but what about the rest of the area, example sitting and reading a book on the couch...am I going to get eaten alive? Or is the moral, bug spray on at all times?

In my experience, (and I've stayed at Captain Don's 6 times, next month will be 7) the rooms are equipped with bug spray.

At night is the only time I've been bothered, and if you take precautions - shut off lights before opening doors, don't leave doors wide open for any length of time, etc., the annoyance is minimal.

We would spray the room before leaving to go to dinner or for a night dive, and then when we got back, scoot into the room quickly, shut the door, turn on the lights, and then do a short spray around the edges of the door. I can't say I've ever felt the need for mosquito netting, let alone had any problems sitting around inside the place reading or whatever.

Of course, sitting outside is a different story - bug spray early and often.

I agree with Susan...We spray the bedrooms before we go out for dinner. Generally, we do not have a problem in our Capt. Don's Cottage. They also supply the bug candles.

Last year on BT someone recommended Avon's Bug Guard. I tried it last April in the lotion form with sunblock. I used it only in the evening when we went out. No bites!!! And mosquitos usually love me. Highly recommend it.

Linda,

That was ME!!! I use it religiously, especially when we go to Gibi's. It works great! My husband decided not to use it when I first started using it and he looked like he had chicken pox from the knees down...me, I was fine. He now is converted and will only use the Avon Skin So Soft Bug guard!

Cheers!

Liz

I think you can do Avon "on line" now, too, Cynde. I have a great Avon rep who takes care of my needs! They are sooo handy to have around! LOL. Good luck! Carole

Liz...I "forgot" the bug stuff at Gibi's last June and paid the price for it, too! Gibi let us use some of his OFF but it was too late by then....eaten alive! Funny part is that I carried stuff everywhere we went and didn't have it the one night we really, really needed it. Live and learn...NEVER take it out of the bag! LOL. Good luck on Wednesday, Lizzie!

Liz, I took your advice too and got the Avon and it was on sale 2 for one on line...and it worked..no bites for me and only a few for Alison when she declined to put it on the last day we were there.

Liz, do you own stock in Avon? (just kidding)...a year ago, Kelly and I went through about 4 bottles of Deet...I think I'll take that along with this Avon product too:-)

Montego Bay is resuming operation, according to Air Jamaica, on Monday. Unfortunately for us the earliest flight we could get to Bonaire would have been Thursday. Considering we planned to leave on Saturday it really put us in a bind. Thanks to the ladies at our proposed lodging we were able to postpone the trip one week.:-):-):-)
