I am a new user-Hope I am doing this right.
I am thinking of going to Bonaire for our anniversary in Sept. We are fairly new divers ( We have had our check out dives and also went to the Cayman Islands this summer) We were thinking of staying at the Plaza or Buddys or ?. Any info?

So far so good.

There's plenty of info in the archives. Simply click on the Keyword Search link at the bottom of this page and enter the names of the places you're thinking of staying.

Or just click here.

Syoung -

We returned 3 August from our fourth stay at the Plaza. If you would like to send me a direct e-mail, I'd be happy to try to answer any questions you have.

Bonaire really does have loads of lodging choices -- from luxury resort to pretty basic. What may be a good fit for one person, may not be for another.

A few things to ponder:
a) How many people, for how long and at what target price?
b) What features are most important to you (i.e., proximity/quality of a house reef, pool, location (south of town, north of town), noise, kitchen, proximity to water/beach, room amenities, bar, restaurant, on-site dive operator, resort amenities, spa, size/social scene, etc., etc.)?
c) How much are some of those amenities worth (either in terms of cost or traded off against other amenities)?

My personal favorite (Carib Inn) works great for me. While they fit my criteria to a "T", they might not fit your criteria at all. If you would prefer, I am also happy to respond to a private email seeking more information.

We've been to Bonaire twice and stayed at Sand Dollar Condo Resort both times. We love it there because it is quiet and you have a lot of privacy. It really depends on what you're looking for. We like having the full kitchen and being able to cook some of our own meals.

The dive shop is on the premises and diving couldn't be easier. Tanks are always available. It's just a matter of gearing up and stepping off the pier. From there it's just a short swim to the top of Bari Reef.

However, if you are looking for more of a hotel atmosphere with all the amenities, keep watching here or check other posts. You'll eventually find what you're looking for. This is a great site for getting whatever information you need.

I will guarantee this -- you will love Bonaire and the diving is hard to beat. Good luck!

Marvin
