I am a January timeshare owner and was just curious if anything has been done since last Jan.('04)? I know they were planning to build a terrace next to the dive shop and they were going to open up a "business" center at the old dive shop with an internet cafe.

By the way I just got back from the Divi Dutch Village in Aruba and they are renovating the whole place. We stayed in one of the newly remodeled units and it is of Marriott quality.

In June I saw the very beginings of something, lumber and constuction slated to begin next to the dive shop. I loved the hammock and the swings under the palm tree in front of the fittness center.Always thought that what it needed. Divi really fixed it up,Masha danki!

Hi, Stu. I was just there in July and they had the foundation finished and were working on the rest of it. When I asked when it would be finished, he said "tomorrow... it's always tomorrow".. so who knows?? But I heard possibly by October. My understanding is that it's a bar though. Carole can you help me on this one?

Hi, Kelly....there were still some cinder blocks there when we were there at the end of June. I think you have more of the low-down and skinny on what's happening than I do! LOL. Here is a pic taken from one of the timeshare rooms (thru the screen!) and it shows the cinder blocks over by the dive shop and dive dock/pier. That's all I know so far....hope this helps! I also hope it is not too big of a structure......Ayo. Caroledivi bar

Hi, Stu...how did you make out with the back door light shining into your room last year? This year we did not have a problem with it as we did the year before....different room this year. Or else they have turned the lights off in the back areas. How did you do?? Carole

Stu, I believe the business center/internet connection room is open now. We did not make it down to that side of the property to check it out, tho...we hit Michael's place at Chat n Browse.

Sounds like they are finally working on Dutch Village. That's good as it was one of their first "golden eggs"! We were so upset when they built Building C at Divi Village. We own an end unit on the top floor on the B building wing and it killed us when that huge monster went up years later. We were hoping they would not be able to raise the funds to complete the biggun. I understand it is a real nightmare now with tons of villas and golf course, and the likes, surrounding our place in the sun....this is the main reason we switched over to Bonaire! We now transfer the ARuba time to Bonaire and we bought a week in Bonaire. Never want to return to Aruba again....not when we have Bonaire!

Did you make it to El Gaucho? I hear that it is still good but not as good as it used to be. Oh well....we now have Casablanca!! LOL. Carole

Carole,

I reported on the problem with the back door lights shining in the room when they first began the remodeling. The best solution is to take a chair and unscrew the bulb

I clothes pinned some material that I use for sarongs to the latice work (it is thicker than the premade sarongs). It helped some, but blinds or drapes would be a great help. The latice was too fragile or I would have used a bedspread.

We hung a beach towel over the kitchen cabinet and opened the cabinet up so it swung back in the direction of the light and blocked out the light!

I kinda like the idea of the "outside" being lighted up but not the inside.

I think someone might have unscrewed the bulb on our last trip because we did not have the same problem this time. Good ideas by all! Carole
