Hallo, vrienden!

Headed to Bonaire in early November, and wanted to find the best Bed 'N Breakfast accomodations. From experience elsewhere, the folks at a BNB are a LOT nicer than the "staff" at a 5-star resort. I'll just presume that Bonaire is similar.

I'd like to be near Kralendijk purely because it's central to many of the divesites, and has a lot of restaraunts.

Price is a "don't care", I just want a pretty place with friendly owners / operators. I smoke, so an outdoor sitting garden would be appreciated; I don't smoke in other people's homes.

I'll need a BNB for between 3 and 14 nights, depending on whether our LDS ever locks down THEIR dates for the trip. I have tickets already, and I'm coming whether they do or not.

Try the Deep Blue View as they have an excellent rep www.deepblueview.com

I'm now looking into the Deep Blue View for our Honeymoon, and if the emails I've had back and forth are any indication, they are very friendly people. I was actually wondering if anybody has stayed there. I actually just looked at the date I'm responding to.... have either of you got the DBV since?

thanks

Hi Erica,

My husband and I stayed there three years ago. It was lovely and the hosts, Esther and Menno are great. I highly recommend the place. It's not ocean side but the place is way up on a hill and there is a nice view to be had from the observation deck.

We are returning to Bonaire in early Feb. and looked into staying there again, but, alas, they were booked.

Catherine,
How far is it to a public beach where we could snorkel? What about places to eat? Do the rooms have fridges or is there a "guest" refrigerator available?

We stayed there two years ago -- very nice. A bit isolated -- 10 minute drive to anywhere, no restaurants within walking distance. No fridges in rooms, but there is a guest refrigerator available. Very nice breakfasts, and people.

The drawback for us was the location -- although it's a lovely view. We're used to staying more centrally on Bonaire and definitely prefer that. That aside, it's a great place.
Josie

Hey there,

I would have responded to your question sooner but, I was in Bonaire!!!

You probably wouldn't want to stay at DBV if you aren't going to rent a car, mini-van or truck. DBV is a little off the beaten path, but then we like that. You can go into town or a big resort if you want (a little) hubbub but then you can go back to DBV for a quiet respite and a snooze in the hammock.

Bonaire is fun to explore so I think it's a real advantage to have a vehicle. Nothing is that far away on Bonaire, so it's not like you're going to be driving for hours to get anywhere. At DBV, you can easily go north or south. But to each his or her own, and if you want ocean front accommodations, then DBV won't fill the bill. But if you want very pleasant surroundings with very pleasant hosts, then go for it.

Cathy

PS--this last week we stayed at Ocean View Villas (small place, only three units) and enjoyed it very much.
