Does the Divi casino have table games (blackjack)? What hours is the casino open? Were not staying at the time share, we can book a standard room. How would you rate this resort from 1-5 stars? How large are the pools? Thanks in advance.

Hi Lois,

I haven't stayed at the Divi so I can't answer that part of your question but I have spent several hours at the casino.

It opens at 8:00 p.m. and closes (supposedly) at 4:00 a.m. - they did run us out at 2:00 a.m. one morning saying they were closing.

They do have blackjack - I don't remember how many tables because we only played at one table ($5 minimum bet if I recall correctly).

I don't remember for sure but I think they also have one roulette table - we never played it so I can't say 100% for sure that they have one I just seem to remember seeing it.

It is a really small casino but it was a fun way to spend a couple of hours in the evening.

Belinda

Hi, Lois.. I've stayed at Divi and really loved it. Both times in an oceanfront deluxe w/ fridge. These are the rooms in the "yellow building" and I was really happy with the rooms.

The pools are pretty good size. Not olympic size, but not small either.

Feel free to email me with any specific questions you might have!

The casino was kind of a joke for us. But if you really wanted to gamble you could make the best of it.

We never saw anyone in there!

But Divi was great and we also stayed in the Deluxe rooms with a fridge.

Ida,

I'm surprised - every night we went the place was packed - and not just with tourists. One night we just turned around and walked out because every machine was full and every seat at the blackjack table was full. We saw lots of locals there and enjoyed talking with them while we gambled. We were there in February - when were you there?

The casino has 4-6 blackjack tables, one roulette table and the rest is slots...some are nickel and quarters, etc. Joe says they even have local currency of one penny, but I can't vouch for that!

We are timeshare owners at the Divi. The resort is small, intimate and cozy. It is not a four or five star resort....the only resort even close to a four star would be Harbour Village and the price is much higher.

Divi has two decent sized pools, mini market and gift shop, spa, small work out room, some deck games outside including a huge chess set the size of small children! The beach is intimate/small with beach chairs, some chiki huts and the tanning pier with lounge chairs and umbrellas. The snorkeling at Divi is outrageous (Calabas).

Divi has an excellent dive shop operation, too.

Divi is probably a "three" or 2.5 out of five/5 as far as "luxury" goes. We love it there. Just don't expect the Ritz Carlton or the Hilton....that it is not. If it is luxury you are seeking, Harbour Village or a house rental is the way to go.

Everyone working at the Divi is helpful and polite. Things do move slower on Bonaire but that's the way of life and I love it when I am there! The place is kept clean. I think you will like the luxury hotel rooms overlooking the water....your room is literally on top of the water and the view is unreal...you are just about touching the fish from your balcony.

Oh, Divi also has Chibi Chibi which is their restaurant for lunch and dinner and cocktails. It is outside and situated right on top of the water, too.....great fun to eat and watch the fish below you. They ask us not to feed the fish or the birds (seagulls) but everyone does....can't resist the temptation. It's not good for them but everyone seems to do it.

There is also a spot for breakfast at the Divi....Calabas, I think. It, too, is outdoors and you can purchase a plan or one meal at a time. Breakfast to order.

They were beginning to build a small outside bar over by the Dive shop on the timeshare side when we were there in June...don't know the status of that, however.

I think you will enjoy your stay at the Divi as long as you don't expect "too much" but are looking for a very casual atmosphere and total relaxation with great waters and a few other amenities tossed in, you will enjoy the Divi.

Let us know how you make out and have a great trip!

Here is an older pic of my hubby, Joe, (head just above the water line, only!) when we were snorkeling in front of the Divi....the rooms on the right side are the Deluxe hotel rooms overlooking the water. The puple/pink wooden structure is Chibi Chibi, the restaurant for lunch and dinner and cocktails. The structure to the left of Chibi Chibi is the breakfast area. You can see how tiny the beach is, but it is fabulous! The waters are stupendous. Easy, easy entry....all sand with a few small stones here and there and the reef is at your toes! We also have a timeshare at the Divi and would not trade it for any other location on the island> The people are like family and they try to tend to your every need. The rooms are clean if quite old, could use new countertops but how much cooking and kitchen time are you planning??? The time share units have a small kitchen and a porch and room to sleep 4 easily.

The view and the snorkeling are very very good right in front of the resort. You can stay along the shore and still see many different species of fish and coral. Last Feb saw three octopus, a group of squid, many spotted eels and many filefish, parrotfish, damsels and needle fish. This is just a few of the displays you find in the water there. They have been working on fixing up some of the areas and Frits and Jenny have done a great job in getting the things done.
The other reason the Divi is special besides the best dive operation, is the closeness to town and many of the restaurants. You are able to walk into town and walk to many of the restaurants.

The location is perfect.

Stayed at the Divi previously and am booked into the Divi in Oct. 2004.

Can't think of a reason to stay anyplace else.

The casino is not the Hilton, nor is Bon Las Vegas, but it's a place to spend a couple of hours outgassing.

Good luck,

Mitch
