Is Hamlet Sunset Villa part of the group of villas next to Captain Don's or is does it stand alone with privacy? Trying to decide between it, Crown Court Villa and Villa Oasis, which is plusher with better beach, snorkling and acess to diving? thanks for your help.

Lots of people are coming up with lots of new names for old places, and I've never heard of any of the ones you mention. Do you have Web site pointers for them? Might be able to help you then...

Jake

These villas have been around longer than the web cams. Most are on the Sun rentals web site. Hamlet Sunset is owned by a European family and is located adjacent to Habitat Propety.

Hamlet would be the only one very close to a diveshop since it is right next to Habitat. I remember there use to be some odd restrictions on the rental of this unit like 'no kids' and a couple others. You might want to check on that.

Hamlet and Villa Oasis are on the water. And judging by the pictures have similiar beaches although Villa Oasis would be more private. Villa Oasis lists Belnem for a location which is south of town and the airport.

Crown Court Villa is oceanfront but I believe does not have a sandy beach, most likely a pier. I don't remember any sandy beachs in Sabadeco.
This place is located north of Hato and the resort area in a residential neighborhood.

Here is the URL for Hamlet Sunset Villa. http://www.cvillas.com/bonaire/sunset/index.html
I will be staying there February 19-28, 2002, and will post a report after. The owner lives in Luembourg.

We just returned from " Bonaire Beach Villas" of which Hamlet Sunset Villa is a part. It is Villa #13, we stayed from 2/16 to 2/23 in Villa # 14. DeJong's Villa looks like it could use some maintenence ( #13 ). Our Villa was comfortable, although it could use some updating/cleaning. On this our 7th visit to Bonaire, we were broken into and lost some minor items ( dive lights and disposable cameras ). Our nice neighbors in Villa 14 ( Ron Myers?..and his group ) lost much/much more. On the same night they lost dive cameras and cash...I'm sure that he will make a posting soon! We were most surprised by the attitude of police and other locals who seemed unfazed...."Oh yea, be sure to lock up at night and before you leave". Are the days of refreshing Bonaire breezes that blow over the bed gone forever? Villa 13 had it's screens cut, our second floor bedrooms were violated by entry through the windows! Nights later, when we lost electricity, we slept in the heat worrying about break-ins. Please hear this the right way, we love Bonaire.....but has the "youth drug problem" become a major cause of crime? What has happened to " Safe, Safe "Bonaire? Anyway..they can't take away the great diving and the warmth of the majority of the locals, not yet anyway.

We'll be staying in one of the upstairs units in Villa #14 in June (#1403). Sounds like we shouldn't bring anything with us of value, including camera equipment. We can't leave it behind in the unit, and we can't take it with us and leave it in the car. We've been to a lot of places where we've had to be careful, and even had some groceries stolen on St. John (must've needed it more than us). But this is the first time we're afraid to even take stuff with us. Oh, well, from what I've read here, it will be worth it anyway.

Ken
