We're thinking of renting this unit through Sun Rentals for a couple of weeks..Has anyone stayed there before? If so I'd appreciate any feedback, pics etc.

I think Seb and Mary are staying there now. When I see them next I'll point them this way.

Hi, folks! I'd be interested to know how easy the access to the water is at this villa. It is hard to tell from the photos at the website. Steps going down? Stairs? Ladder? Looks lovely, tho.

We recently stayed at a home in Santa Barbara but missed the ocean access at our toesteps....looking for a nice place on the water with very, very easy access into the water. Looking forward to reading Mary and Seb's post as well as yours, Julia, when you return. Have a great trip! Carole

A fairly new ladder according to info Seb and I have! Will get back to you if Seb doesn't, Carole.

It's a great house for a great price in a perfect location. LOTS of beds...rustic vs luxury..

Hi there!
Our family stayed at Elkadia last Christmas\New Years, and had a wonderful time!

It's a large house, 4 bedrooms each with big bathroom, "older" decor (not a problem!) older kitchen but fully functioning and fully equipped.
Patio area by the water is really lovely; great for relaxing and watching the sunsets, great views.

While we were there a very heavy (and unusual) ocean swell came through and literally ripped the steps going into the ocean out of their substantial concrete housings. As the ocean settled a few days later we were able to locate the steps, they were lying on the ocean floor. We showed Maus from Sunrentals, who was planning to either salvage them or replace them. I'm sure this will have been done but you could ask Sunrentals directly to make sure.
Maus and his wife Jose were always helpful, friendly and kind.

In "normal" seas, it was easy to get in and out of the water down the steps.. a couple of concrete steps and then a ladder. Our boys also enjoyed jumping in from the patio which was safe and fun! The reef there was pretty. Views were great!

We have some pictures of the house and patio which we'd be happy to share; I probably shouldn't post them on the Board here as they will take up space, but if you e-mail me I'll happily send them to you, along with answers to any other questions you may have.

The people on this board have been enormously helpful to us, and we are thrilled at last to be able to be "givers" of information instead of "receivers"!
Cheers,
Jill

Jill, you can post them here if you're comfortable...I'm sure a lot of other folks would like to see what the place looks like. Kelly and Mary spent some time there visiting Seb and Mary, and Kelly has a picture of the three gals in lounge chairs on the back patio overlooking the ocean:-)

Cynde, I'm just wondering if it might be tempting fate (bad kind, unfortunately) if Jill posted the villa pics on the board. We don't want to "invite" the bad guys to visit the place. Guess I'm just paranoid these days (moreso than normal for me, LOL!)

Jill, what do you think? Maybe you can send them to Cynde or I can send them to her? Input? Carole

Carole, I'm not sure that the criminals even have computers, internet, or know about BT...it seems that the last few villa robbery reports were posted by folks that had just registered, and it was their first post....I am sure that they case these places and know what they look like without lurking on BT...plus, if you go to Sunrentals, you can see pictures of the villas...so if these thugs do have internet access, and are that savvy, they have seen them...just MHO:-) I'ts definitely up to Jill and her preference...I know some folks don't like posting their pics anywhere on the net (don't want to end up in one of those "priceless" senarios!

Well, we do know some of the criminals have computers as they were stolen from the victims, but I doubt they are paying for an Internet connection! LOL. (sorry, it's not really funny).

What is a "priceless" scenario, Cyn?? Carole

Hi folks,
I certainly don't mind adding a few pictures....can someone remind me how? I know it was easy, but forget the exact procedure!!! There was a limit to size I think?
Thanks,
Jill

Vince, here is a picture from just a few weeks ago, it's Mary Mueller, me, and Mary Wills.

The steps are fabulously easy.... just gear up at the top of the stairs and walk in. Easy even for a beginner (right, Barbara?!)

A big thank you to Seb and Mary for letting me latch onto them like a ramora... lol..

The steps, ladder and patio are fab. There was a huge bait ball to watch and this is a picture of 1 of 4 little guys hanging around on the house reef.

Great pic Wally!!! I didn't see this one...

Carole, the steps and entry are wide, I would gear up at the top of the stairs, and go slowly and gingerly down to the bottom, kind of sideways and hanging on, and fall backwards - gracefully of course - into the water and then put my fins on. I think I was overly cautious due to my back problems. HOWEVER, Mary Wills could navigate the stairs WITH HER FINS ON, I've never seen anything like it in my life. That woman is amazing I tell ya.

Okay Wally I'm homesick. How about you? ;)

Wally Wondered when you would post that pic...and before I had it sold! LOL, better copyright it! :-)
Yes, Kelly the steps were easy the first time around and even easier the second! :-) Mary and Seb are the tops at seahorse finding and great folks to dive with!
