hi, everyone,
new to the board. does anyone know if Lions Dive has completed their air conditioning upgrades yet? i've heard that they only have a/c in the bedrooms and that it's controlled by motion detectors. i am very heat intolerant and don't think i would be comfortable if i didn't have a place to cool down after a day in the sun.
appreciate all info about the resort. we're planning to travel in october.

I have no idea about the upgrades, but when we were there about a year and a half ago, there was a/c in the bedroom. I, too, can be very heat intolerant at night-but it worked fine. When we were there, though, there weren't any motion detectors.

We would need to find a cat or iguana to keep in the room to "fool" the motion detector! We like it cooooolllllldddddd! I wonder how long it takes to cool the room back down after it has been off for a while? I wonder if it takes the same amount of energy to re-cool the room down? I realize one must conserve energy while on Bonaire...it is just a thought..... Carole

PS If we put both the cat AND the iguana into the room there would be guaranteed motion to keep the unit running!@ What an ugly sight that could be! LOL.

AC only in bedrooms is quite normal in Bonaire. As is the concept of only cooling the room during the night when you are sleeping. I don't know what the AC situation is a Lions.

Mimi, according to Susan at Bon Bini Divers at Lions, AC has been installed in the living areas of the condos. And apparently the motion detectors aren't a problem if you keep the bedroom door closed at night. Click here for the thread and discussion:-)

Have a great trip!

I was at the Lion's Dive 6/12 - 6/19, our room had the motion detector in it, but it did not seem to every turn off because of it. Maybe because my wife and I often had the bedroom door shut to keep the a/c in the bedroom. Have a nice trip... breakfast at the Lion's Den is delicious!
