Planning on going in December and trying to decide between Sand Dollar and Lac Bay Resort.
Please Help

Ziemowit, big difference between the two is that Lac Bay Resort is on the East side (windward) of the island and caters to windsurfers, and shore diving is usually not an option (unless you are very very experienced diver) due to large wave action...and Sand Dollar is on the West side (leeward) of the island and caters to divers...the west side is the side of the island that the majority of the dive sites are on. I've stayed at Sand Dollar and it is a great place, great dive shop

It all depends in what you are looking for. If you want to be closer to the downtown area and be able to walk to several other hotels for meals, or be near dive sights and snorkling sites by foot, then I would stay on the west side of the island. If you are looking for solitude and a nice view of lac bay & a great restaurant on premise.... and you want to be close to the windsurfing, then lac bay is a great choice.

I would heartily support Cynde's comments. If you're a diver, I think you will be much more satisfied at Sand Dollar. We've stayed there twice now and plan to go back at the first opportunity. It is quiet but close and convenient to shopping. Accommodations are great and the dive operation on site is very convenient. Staff are friendly and helpful. We have visited Lac Bay on both of our previous visits. It's a nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to spend my whole vacation time there. It is quite a ways from everything unless all you plan to do is wind surf.
