We are a family of four. Dad and daughter novice certified divers, mom and nine year old love the pool scene and kids clubs or activities.Spent last Easter at Cozumel Presidente and really leaning to Bonaire this Easter for the ease of the shore diving. So which is it, Sand Dollar, Divi, Lions or some other. Thank you for your input.

I have stayed at the Divi nine times and love it. The dive shop there is great too. For your nine year old check out www.seandiscover.com. Caren has a wonderful snorkel program for kids. Your child will learn so much. Caren is a marine biologist and all the kids just love her. The Divi is just a five minute walk to town and they have a great house reef to dive and snorkel. My daughter was nine the first time she went and just loves it there.

You can check out for your 9 year old the kids programm at the Toucan Divers (Plaza Resort) - no obligation to stay there. My grand children enjoy it there a lot

Eden Beach and Buddy Dive are good places as well.
I have seen Sea & Discover picking children up at Eden Beach on several trips.

Hope your family enjoys Bonaire no matter where you stay.

Hi, Kay!! Nice to meet you at the Divi....wish we were back there right now....seems like years ago already for us....sniffle.

Love the Divi!! They have done so much in the past few years with loads of great accommodations and spas, food, little shops, etc.

Are they really building a beach bar by the dive shop area on the waters line?? I did see cinder blocks in place for something between the dive dock and the dive shop.....I don't know if I like that idea, tho....will block the water view from the end first floor units in the timeshares and might bring noise and clusters of folks...anyone know more about what is being constructed there?? Ayo. Carole

David,
The past three Aprils, we've enjoyed Capt Don's -Oasis Cottages, featuring two bedrooms, two baths, nice kitchen and wrap-a-round porch. See my trip report listed in my profile for a few details as to why we chose Capt. Don's. We plan to return again in 2005 and that's the best recommendation...repeat guests.

Carole,
It's my understanding they are going to build a small dock where a small group can possibly bbq or just hang out and watch the sunsets with a few Amstels.... :-)

Hi, Kay! I received a private email letting me know it is going to be a beach bar for the divers and whomever whats to partake. Sounds nice for the divers but I'm sad it will probably block the water view from some of the first floor timeshare units, however.

I hadn't heard any buzz about the construction but we did notice the cinder blocks laid out next to the dive dock this trip. I guess it's a "done deal" already. It was such a lovely view from those first floor/level timeshare units, too....I guess the bar makes money but the "view" doesn't.....oh well. I guess they wanted it to be next to the boats where the divers exit and they have a better sunset view at this location (compared to the Calabas Bar area) in addition to not having to venture too far after their dives..... I guess..... I guess you can tell by my post that Joe and I don't drink and we don't dive, either...we are tea drinkin' snorkelers! LOL!! Carole
