Is there a huge difference in quality between these two? I suspect there might be, and it is for my honeymoon. Please advise!

Yes, Harbor Village is a five star and Plaza is a three-plus to four-minus star...in my Innkeeper's Opinion! :-)

Just got back (tonight) from nine nights at the Plaza. Unless a good beach area is important, I would consider other options. They are a little pricey. The rooms are very clean but very very average decor. Nothing to brag about. Especially for the price. It rained yesterday morning and the roof leaked in five spots. There was bird crap all over the walkways were the trees hang over the walkways.

The place could be very nice with a little attention to details. If it was my honeymoon, I would choose Harbor Village (they have a very nice beach).

Under the topic: trip review, you will find a very enthousiastic report about deepblueview.

I did not stay in the Plaza, but visited it once. I did not check the rooms but from the outside the plaza looked very nice. Nice beach, easy entry to the water. Nice pool. But not a romantic place. To big.

I hope you will have a wonderful honeymoon.

Harbour Village is definately more romantic...BUT - only if you are going to spring for a beach front suite. Anything else is substandard. The rooms are very pricey. The spa is not open and neither are the restaurants. Balandra is open for breakfast and lunch - very pricey. Check out Bellefonte. No beach but probably a lot nicer and not as expensive. We recently did a tour of Plaza as we are having guests in July. The rooms are big, and the price is reasonable. Typical resort.

The Plaza is a very nice resort. The rooms are very spacious, clean, and the staff is extremely helpful. Toucan dive is great, and very helpful. We have stayed there twice, and will return in October for the third time. And it really has one of the nicest beaches.

My wife and I stayed at HV in April for our honeymoon in a beachfront suite. I have traveled all over the U.S. and have stayed in hotels such as Marriott, Fairmont, Omni, Hilton, Starwood, and Preferred. The suite we had at HV is the nicest place I have ever stayed. It cost us a ton but it was our honeymoon so it was worth it. I am a stickler for cleanliness and the first place I check are the bathrooms. They were spotless. Tile floors, separate tub and showers, marble counter tops, a great pool, lots of beach space, and very cold A/C. You will not be disappointed but you should have transportation to get around the island and to Kralendijk. It is NOT a short walk to town.
