My wife and I are planning a trip to the island in mid-September and will be traveling with another couple (non-divers) and their one year old son. I would like some recommendations on nice/luxury places to stay with plenty of amenities for our friends and a sandy beach. So far, we are looking at either Harbour Village or the Plaza. We are open to other ideas but need a beach and preferably a pool too. We would also consider a villa on the water with a pool. All suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

If you are looking for upscale, Harbor Village is the place. Plaza is not far behind. However, although Divi is not as far upscale, it has other ammenities that make it attractive (nice beach, pools, sunbathing docks, and easy walking distance to town and restaurants)

I don't believe the spa at Harbour Village is open yet. Last week a newspaper article said the company coming in to run it had pulled out. Plaza has kiddie pool, a spa, multiple restaurants, and a nice beach. Divi as mentioned above gives you easy access to all the restaurants in town which is nice. Divi is the only one currently with a running casino. Plaza's casino is closed with no reopen date.

FYI-Harbour Village says that although their spa is indeed not open, they still have all the spa services. I guess they come to your room?
