Greetings, BT'ers:

My wife and I stayed at the Plaza 2 years ago, had a great time, and plan to return to Bonaire in July.

The Plaza was fine, but we were wondering what other accommodations choices folks would recommend if we have the following preferences:

1. Nice (not necessarily luxury) accommodations for 2 with unrestricted oceanview. Also, with in-room cooking facilities.

2. Oceanfront access for walk-in scuba and snorkeling.

3. Linked with a dive operation that will give one or two "brush up" dives with a divemaster or instructor. I certified at the Plaza, but haven't dived since. (Toucan was great.)

4. Linked with a dive operation that will let my wife snorkel off the boat for less than the full scuba rate. (She doesn't scuba, but we like to go out together.)

Thanks in advance!

Rich

Richard, we always stay at the Dive Inn, just a throw from the Divi. It has everything that you asked for above, especially the price.

Bon Dia Rich: No matter where you stay on Bonaire I am sure you will enjoy your return trip even more than the first one, as Bonaire only gets better and better (if that is possible!)

Hi Rich,
Welcome to BT.

I'd try the Belmar (www.belmar-bonaire.com). My wife and I have stayed there each of the three times we have been to Bonaire and find it to be outstanding. All the rooms have an unrestricted view of the ocean and in-unit cooking facilities. There is access to the water via a very nice dock for walk-in scuba and snorkeling. Toucan has a dive shop on the grounds staffed by two very nice DM's Erika and Monique. The only thing I don't know is their policy on snorkelers accompanying divers on the boat (my wife and I both dive). Hope you enjoy your stay.

MJ

Check out BelMar Apartments, Toucan has a small shop on site there. Great place. As far as snorkeling off the boat probably after all the divers are in the water.

Hi Rich, welcome to BT...BelMar has all the ingredients that you are asking for. We took our daugher and family with us a couple of years ago (daughter only snorkels) and as long as there is room on the boat there was no problem with her coming along and snorkeling while we were diving...
Happy diving!
